    @celcius_kkw, welcome back. What a coincidence that I was thinking about you on Friday, when I saw rooftops with roses page on new DA handbook. I was thinking your garden looked better than DA photo and hopefully everything is going ok for you.

    Congratulations on your new allotment. Looking forward to seeing photos this season.

    I had also finished pruning just last week. I have been very busy with work. I am yet to weed and mulch. I have booked three days off at the end of this month for gardening.

    @jessicas, your garden and patio is looking all tidy and nice.

    I like the the tag on Lady Emma pot. is it something you paint on or chalk? I remember what is where in garden but my pots are all mixed up and without labels. I will put labels/tag once they come to flower.

    @Fire I did yes! Very excited for it. Potted for now but I think will go in the front garden.

    @newbie77 Thank you! Was out all weekend tidying for spring, exciting. Its a white paint pen, like a thick marker pen with paint, found on ebay. Reminds me of tip ex, but It dosent wash off in rain. Ive got the tags on all the roses just as a little feature, but remember too :)

    @Marlorena thank you, yes definaley on the shrubs, new build estate when we moved in so nothing in gardens, bar the borrowed landscape from the trees in the green space a short walk behind fence (estate has wooded / grassed areas dotted regularly). Become a real wildlife hub in my garden too.

    @Marlorena @newbie77

    Thanks.. I will be sure to share some photos once I’ve got on top of the jobs..

    I got an email from DA about rooftop terrace roses too recently.. I couldn’t resist looking at their latest recommendations and interestingly they have taken out a few of the previously ‘recommended for pots and containers’ suggestions.. a few of those coincided with the ones I’ve hand picked to be transferred to the ground at my allotment..

    My munstead wood, for example has been ever so spindly in its pot (though granted it has got a bit of that reputation) and having looked up on DA website again I was surprised to find out that it’s meant to be a medium shrub (110cm).. and yet I always thought it’s meant to be small.. fingers crossed the unlimited space at the plot will do it some good..

    Hi @celcius_kkw welcome back and congrats on the new allotment!

    My 4yr old MWs, planted in a group of 3 in the ground, have never got beyond 75cm tall and that seems to be a common experience. I do remember seeing one in Adam Frost’s garden tho and it was definitely a fair bit taller than mine. Maybe in another four years..

    @Nollie could it be to do with the weather in Spain? If MW turns out to be much shorter than advertised then maybe I should keep it to the front of my newly dig up flower border at my plot..

    My MW are smallest of all my roses. When I saw a whole bed of munstead woods in Kew gardens, they were all very small, the whole bed looked odd one out among other mature rose beds.

    Dunno @celcius_kkw, Austins generally get much bigger in warmer climates, plus they get more regular food and water than any other rose. Mine are at the front of a border, but with a bench in front, which you would think would encourage it to grow a bit taller, but no!
