    @Suesyn sorry to hear that, must be very frustrating. At least roses can delight in other ways!
    @Tack you have some stunners still! Some of yours have really influenced my choices, im so excited for odyssey!

    @Marlorena I was browsing earlier and came across RV Roger nurseries, lots of exclusive roses id not seen before and lots of miniatures, do you know much about them?

    ...Hi Jessica... yes I've used RV Roger, for roses and perennials... they provide top quality stock from my limited experience with them... they sometimes offer a choice of Grade A or B with roses..   the downside I found is that, if you do not order early on, you end up in a long queue and it can take some time before you get your plants.
    I don't know the current wait time for roses, so it's just a warning...

    My TPs were the same @newbie77, skinny and bone dry. Since potting up, the canes have died back virtually to the base so I wasn’t holding out much hope, but one has put out a couple of shoots on the inch of green left at the bottom so there is hope they will make it. Warm weather after an earlier freeze has caused new growth on a number of mine.

    Your roses are still going strong and looking good @Tack.

    @Tack roses on steroids?? :)
    @Suesyn sorry you lost your sense of smell.. had a terrifying experience myself during covid, when I lost my sense of smell..

  • @Suesyn My sense of smell disappeared sometime in 2019, well before Covid. I realised I couldn't smell my sweet peas, then it was the indoor hyacinths and the scented pheasant eye narcissi in the garden, which I always look forward to. Then one day in 2020 I walked in the back door to my mini conservatory and was literally knocked back by a blast of perfume from my Hoya! I couldn't believe it and it made my day.
    Now I can smell some things, though not as well as before - if I stick my nose right in my roses I can detect some scent and the same for other flowers, but lots of things pass me by. Onions make my eyes water, but I can't smell them. My daughter comes in and says that smells nice, and I have no idea. I can't smell the daffodil meadow in full bloom either, but on the plus side I can't smell bad smells either, though that does mean all the  *rap jobs get delegated to me! Like you, my sense of taste is affected, so I don't find food exciting any more, so I find I tend to eat less, which makes managing my weight much easier.
    I've read that training you nose with some essential oils can help, especially lemon, rose, eucalyptus and another one I forget, maybe mint or geranium so I might give that a go through the winter months.

    I ordered some bare roots from Beales in early October, including some for presents. I am now told that they are not sure if I will get them before Christmas. It seems a bit much - a three month wait?
