I also still have a mountain of things to do here, plant bulbs, plant bareroot roses and fruit trees (whenever these all arrive...), pruning and tidying. How is it already almost December?!

By the way, I ordered two standard roses from David Austin with the 15% discount. Very impressed. Great quality, came with support stakes and rubber ties. (Princess Anne and Tranquility if anyone is curious). These are my first standards, wish I’d done this sooner as they do give a lot of interest.

I havent finished my autumn winter jobs either. Need to lift some dahlias and salvias. I havent pruned a single rose and need to plant out some winter/spring bedding. Good thing is, this year for first time I had planted all of the spring bulbs by mid Oct.

I am waiting for couple of bare root roses, which I will pot up.

Pruning the roses will be last for me as at least they can wait. Amazing how mild it has been, still some roses going. I'm hoping to collect some hips at some point. I really need to get the bulbs planted though, a task for the weekend!

Yes, we havent had any proper frost yet but someone said it is going to snow next week.

I guess I might be able to prune only in Feb/March. Too many personal things to do and soon I am going to start commuting to office so wont see home or garden in daylight on weekdays.

MW and LoS are still flowering here through the sleet. Quite a few buds also still there on the plants. Do I cut them off to put the plant into 'winter' mode? Also noticed that the colder the weather, the darker the flowers of MW are.

    Snowing here now 😵‍💫

@Eustace That’s not necessary, generally speaking the pruning window is anytime between Dec - Feb, although you can do it earlier if you like. I still have some roses going as well.

I've just been out to fill up the bird feeders and noticed our arbour had been blown over - fortunately the hedge stopped it half way down. My rose Claire Austin was tied to the top and as it was quite exuberant, probably helped to blow it over. I've had to chop off two of the thickest tallest branches in order to right the arbour, so it's  had an impromptu early pruning. It was still in full leaf with blooms and buds.

It was freezing in Christmas Fare.

Everyone take care of yourself and your garden in this weather.

Lizzie hope it is not much damage.
