Well as far as I know Newbie it’s just the soil that is affected, so I would think that shouldn’t be a problem, but I’m no expert so just my uneducated opinion 🙃
Any idea if apple leaves and fruits are ok to put in compost bin used for making compost for roses?
Yeah that would be fine. It's microorganisms and pathogens in the soil that build up around the root systems that cause issues when you replant. So composted plant material is fine, regardless of what family of plants it comes from.
Although they do say not to compost rose prunings and leaves due to fungal issues. If you were able to get the conditions right for hot composting even that would be fine. But as most people have heaps or bins where the temperatures never get high enough to kill off the fungus it's best to bin them.
I've started gathering stems from other plants which I'll stack up in a corner to help any overwintering things. Especially our frog incase it decides to stay here over winter. In spring I might move it to the plot and see if it likes the pond!
I have quite a few today, bear with me... all glam shots, ugly bits removed.. 'New Zealand'.. this is doing well for me now, and surprisingly healthy.. 'Blush Noisette'.. cluster.. 'Eustacia Vye'.. reasonably healthy.. 'Bathsheba'.. perfect like this.. 'Vanessa Bell'... I've seen it better.. needs lots of water and gross feeding.. 'Kew Gardens'.. 'Pirouette'...
'Forever Royal'.. 'Donatella'.. 'Pink Martini'.. I think it looks like one.. 'Ghislaine de Feligonde'.. first season plant, rebloom.. 'Buxom Beauty'.. Anemone 'Honorine Jobert'.. Lythrum 'Dropmore Purple'.. Hakonechloa macra 'Aureola'.. flower spikes just appearing...
..thanks.. it gets black spot this time of year but don't most of them.. I've just noticed some ugly bits on Mutabilis in shot there behind the Anemone... must take more notice in future..
