@Nollie ...sounds like you got a decent Mutabilis this time.. have you planted it yet? it will be interesting to compare your Mme de Sevigne with original references for this rose..
.. I found Gloire de Ducher not too vigorous, I can't recall it throwing up a fresh basal, and I kept it a few years.. it repeated well though... the colour reddened later in the season.. BS and Mildew without bothering me too much.
Hi @Marlorena, I planted Mutabilis in the ground in the end, piled on a deep mulch and popped a cloche over it, so hopefully that will be enough protection to see it through the winter this time. I found the description of Mme. de Sévigné as a ‘free-standing climber’ interesting, so thought it might suit in the middle of a bed leaning against a clematis obelisk. Yes, I’m curious to see how it turns out in many respects.
Lovely as your photos are of GdeD on hmf (what a colour!) I had considered and rejected it in the past because of the reports of mildew and lack of vigour. My little twiglet may not amount to anything but I will nurse it along, you never know!
Have a safe but merry, rosy Christmas everyone 🎄
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
..with those precautions it should be ok then Nollie, although I've never gone to that trouble here with Mutabilis.. the only rose I've ever lost to winter freeze was a bare root, spindly, Souvenir de la Malmaison... which surprised me to be honest although it was in a pot which froze solid..
.. exceptionally mild weather in my forecast, not seen anything like it that I can recall for the next 2 weeks.. no frosts and temps after xmas around 12 with 10 at night.. puzzled by all this talk of 'snowbombs'... even Altnaharra and Braemar have mild conditions - these are usually the snowiest places..
I had a helpful phone call from Trevor White's today. I had been trying to get in touch to add a couple of yellows to an existing order due mid Jan and hadn't been able to get through so made an additional order, not wanting them to sell out. Anyway they rang back today and kindly said they would refund postage for the second order and combine onto one invoice, which was jolly nice of them
Really mild weather here too. I was feeling a bit fatigue with stress of managing everything in last couple of days. Today morning I opened the curtain, looked at garden, looked at birds on bird feeder and I dont know why I am feeling more positive.
Wishing you all and your family Happy Christmas and New year!
Looking forward to brighter days, beautiful gardens and rose photos in New Year.
Look what I found this morning! Just one beautiful bloom on my HT Royal William. As it was raining, I picked it for a vase inside. Happy Christmas Rose Lovers.

And Ghislaine de Felogonde, still blooming.
