Good morning everyone and a happy Christmas to you all. I was lucky enough to get some David Austin vouchers for Christmas. The borders in my relatively small garden are already full of roses so I’m after suggestions for roses suitable for large containers. My only problem is the area of the garden they would have to go gets little sunlight, maybe 3-4 hours morning sun. Are there any roses, in your experience, that would be happy in this situation. I’ve studied the DA website but would appreciate your suggestions. Colour and scent aren’t too important. I have a bee friendly garden anyway so of benefit to bees isn’t crucial but would be nice. Thanks in advance.
Hope everyone had a good Christmas and a Happy, rose-filled New Year to all 🌹
@Allyblueeyes I have Lady Emma Hamilton in a pot, (not that big) in far less sun than that and it does perfectly well. Lady of Shalott too, but that one does need a big pot and some support so is pushing it a bit in terms of pot-suitability. Lots of roses do fine in less sun than stated, so I’m sure you will get plenty of good suggestions.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.

Thanks @Nollie! Can I ask how big the pot Lady Emma Hamilton is in? I got enough vouchers for 3 roses!
@Allyblueeyes , nice gift. I had some DA vouchers last year and excitedly kept them until I saw DA's new offerings. Maybe this year something will appeal. I'd love to help with the pot-suitable rose query but mine are in full sun. Having said which I recommend England's Rose and Desdemona for pots and I have high hopes for Olivia Rose Austin.
Lady of Shalott is giving me a dilemma, it is a bit big for a pot I think and throws out long canes that need support. This is it yesterday, a good bloomer though and probably my shadiest patio spot with only afternoon sun and not much of that at this time of year.@cooldoc I do remember the rose seeds that grew as being more sandy coloured as Mr Vine eyes suggests. I have a few fat hips I am waiting on too but they are still green, not like the brown one that I had success with. I will be patient but hope my TCL order due next week gives me another ripe hip.
My Ena has some kind of mould thing going on. Any ideas? It's a relatively dry spot, being squished between two walls and a concrete path. Plus London has been pretty dry through Nov and Dec. She has been in this spot about nine years and I've not noticed any mould probs before...
