Just checked they stayed damp, I think I kept them with clear plastic over to start for several weeks. I remember it took ages before they sprouted.
Just looked today, it is more delicate and warmer/yellower in colour than this conveys, and exciting bonus; there is a very pretty floral/sweet-peaish scent.
Thank you @Tack that’s really helpful, I feel I actually stand a chance now. Just have to impatiently wait for the hips to ripen…Love your rose, very soft and delicate.
I haven't posted for a while too but I read posts everyday. Life still crazy busy.
I gave liquid feed to all my potted roses and compost mulch to the ones in borders. Probably that is the last feed/care for this season. I have been feeling a bit bad about neglecting them.
I've had some success with two small idle prunings just stuck in the ground near to the original rose (unnamed apricot/cream 'Old English' one), which to my amazement seem to have taken and have now flowered.
What do I do now? They will have to be moved as too near the parent plant and too near the edge of the wooden sleeper? I think I remember somebody (Marlorena perhaps) advising not to let cuttings flower in their first year (sorry!) as they need to make good roots first. Is this correct? I was thinking of waiting until they are dormant and then carefully digging them up and perhaps potting them up? Any advice gratefully received as I really wasn't expecting anything to happen!
