It seems most of the hips that are ripe (or nearly there) are from the floribundas and hybrid teas, which isn't ideal...wonder how they'll turn out, if at all 🤔

    Ghislaine "The Kraken" Feligonde

Can I ask how old she is? How have you fed her? What is her aspect at the base?

  • Swapped Claire Austen and St Swithun over yesterday, as Claire growing far too tall for her previous site. We removed the soil, and lined holes with cardboard prior to dusting roots with mycorrhizal fungi and then replacing the old soil with 50/50 new soil and compost.  Monty says not to replant a rose, but we have done it before several times using this method so fingers crossed. I was aware I was talking to them reassuringly throughout the procedure 😂  I had to prune them substantially to be able to move them, so we’ll see what happens🤞Also trying to attract birds to deal with saw fly larvae- not had it until last year, but the leaves were decimated.

@Fire - She’s three years old, fed her twice a year with Wilko granular rose food, the corner faces South-East 😊

Just looked on google maps to check the direction and seen they’ve updated the satellite photo. It’s now showing the ‘new’ patio.

Thanks. Yes, I think they updated around August. I noticed my neighbour's new, rather random, large, self-build swimming pool on the map. They used it for a week or two.

I'm thinking of plant GdF is a pretty shaded spot to see how she does. I am wondering how tough she is. As a rambler, I think she should be fine, if not very flowery.
