  • Hello @Dovefromabove ! Things still a bit all over the place still with parents' and our own house/health issues, but I'm trying to practise resilience / forbearance/ gratitude rather than just venting at all of you kind people in this thread! Hope all is well with you all, been following some of the threads , still dreaming about having a little more garden space but in the real world will have to wait a good while for that!
Kindness is always the right choice.
  • @Desi_in_London  ((hugs))  If you need to vent go ahead, our communal shoulders are broad ... and if it prevents venting to closer folk that actually matter, then we're happy to be vented at  B)

  • that's very kind @Dovefromabove .. but I'm only too well aware that everyone has their own battles these days so while I shan't hesitate to vent if it all gets overwhelming (thank you again) ... I'll save it for when I really really need it. You offering is comforting in itself :) You - and many other-  members on here are a credit to the forum and I do hope will not get discouraged from it by the odd unappreciative person who pops up to post.

  • 🤣 that's kind of you @Desi_in_London ((hugs)) ... don't forget I've worked for Children's Social Services, I've been shouted at by experts 🤣  I have the hide of an elephant and the smile of a crocodile  ;)

Hello all, I am sitting here wondering whether to put the heating on! It is so cold and wet. It's pouring with rain....I know we need it but not all at once.
I wanted to pick the rest of the tomatoes but the weather has beaten me to it and a lot of them are rotting.
The car is booked in for a service later, the garage is on an industrial estate that nearly everyone else has moved out of and gone more central so nothing much to do for two hours while the mechanics get their hands on it. Might just look at the ridiculous prices of the new cars and have a good laugh.   :open_mouth:

Hmmm @floralies .... would they let you take one for a test drive?  That might be fun ... you don't have to buy it ... it probably wouldn't suit you  ;)
Ma used to wander around car showrooms with my son when he was small ... he said that if the salesman asked she would say 'I'm just choosing' ... meaning that she was deciding which one she would like if she had the money ... and if she could drive ... which she couldn't .... son said that sometimes she would ask if she could sit in the car and they always said yes ... so she'd sit there and look at things with him ... if asked if she'd like a test drive she'd say she would wait for her husband ... and then they'd wander off ...

    Take your Kindle @floralies!

I echo the venting @Desi_in_London.  Often helps to set it all out and dump it.  Helps to see things clearer and you never know, someone else may have experienced similar problems and be able to offer advice or just sympathy.

Happy anniversary @Lizzie27.   Enjoy your book sorting @Busy-Lizzie.  I know you will have fun at Chelsea @chicky.

I need a quiet afternoon catching up on sewing tho I may go and sow some rocket in trays in the polytunnel as it's nice and sunny now after a grey start.  Bone dry tho.   I feel the need for more exercise but the stupid knee means I can't do walkies in the local country lanes and I really don't want to join a gym and buy all new kit so OH and I are investigating another dance club tonight.

They do classes on Tuesdays and then practice the new steps on Wednesdays so that'll mean going back to 3 nights of dancing but sociable too and a huge dance floor so plenty of space.  Our current class is just Thursdays with a monthly practice on Saturdays and a small dance floor.    Good workout either way and great for brain power too.

I have just been outside it is 11 deg no wonder I'm cold. Your Ma @Dovefromabove was a very wise lady! The Kindle will definitely be in my bag @Obelixx!
    Now to get warm.
  • @Desi_in_London sometimes it helps just to put things into words because that helps you to process stuff ((hugs))
