Hi all, I've been busy too, bit the bullet and took out all the diseased box hedging in the front garden, a horrible smelly, dusty and sticky job. Now got 11 bin bags full to take to the tip and it looks awfully bare. No sure what I'll do with the area now but it will at least make mowing the lawn easier for OH. I'll try to upload before and after pics later if I can get a decent signal.

Pleased OH has had a good few days @Hostafan1, it does make life easier for you.
Hope you enjoy your stay in MIL's cottage @Dovefromabove. Does Wonky ever swap with you? It worked fine for us when we swapped with my son and his family a few weeks ago.

That sounds sensible @AuntyRach, one of us can retreat up to the loft for a bit of peace and quiet, we have a sofa and small tv up there as well as 'the office' - and it's warm.

Hope you're not feeling too much like the day after the night before @Punkdoc, my OH is enjoying the same exercise with the chaps who also came down from London at the same time. I'm waiting for a phone call to say he's ready to be picked up - which has just happened so I'll have to go!

  • Oooh that looks warmer and more inviting @Lizzie27 😊
as for a swap with Wonky, not sure if her Lovely Hub could function for more than 24 hours without all his electronics mixing desk etc. He’d need a mobile DJ booth 🤣

Thanks Dove, having looked at it again, I think I might remove the plants on the left lower level by the garage and buy one or two more hydrangeas to match those on the right. It's slightly annoying though to realize that originally there had been some there but I'd had them dug out a few years ago because I didn't like them! Oh well, I won't rush into a decision just yet.

Looks great @Lizzie27 - don't rush into doing anything else too soon - allow yourself time to have fun planning!
I'm away to bed now - night night all, busy day tomorrow.

I’d be tempted to trim back the bush in front of the window to the left of the picture, Lizzie27, it does look much airier without the hedge. Well done on getting that lot out. Spent an hour this evening pulling out brambles. Very enjoyable, the ground had softened enough for me to hoick out the roots with my welding gauntlets, and then extract the yards of attached suckers. Created quite a large pile to dispose of.
  • Blimey she's only gone and done it. Fantastic Emma.
