Lyn,there are people who should be careful taking it. Your local pharmacy should be able to advise, depending on any medical conditions or meds you are on,NHS website says for adults not to exceed 100mcg which is 4,000 iu. I bought some "heavy duty" ones from Tesco they weren't Tesco own, they are 800 ug.
Well that's the chairs all set out ready for this evening and have found out that it is a finger buffet. So I think a light meal before we go would be in order. And I'll take my surfeit of little toms to put on the buffet too - which helps get rid of those.
Dinner beforehand if the food is merely nibbles? But if its more substantial?
A buffet is a bit better than canapes, or 'salmonella on toast' as OH calls them. If you're sneaky, you can get quite a lot of food in. But I usually eat first and then nibble politely, looking terribly virtuous, and entirely failing to mention the huge pizza I troughed half an hour earlier. I keep 'country hours' - hate eating late.

I think I'd go to the buffet empty - in case it's good and has lots of things to try - and plan to get a takeaway on the way home or have a bowl of pasta when I get home if still hungry.
I spent yesterday out at a patchwork exhibition and fair at Nantes. The them was British and there was a display of traditional British quilts, some dating from 1820 and mostly from the north of England with just one from Wales. Fabulous but tiring and I had a wee spending spree too buying fabrics.
Having a quiet day today, enjoying what looks like the last of the sunshine before an "interesting" weekend of weather with storms forecast for Saturday. I hope they've got this forecast right this time cos the storms have already been postponed from all day Saturday to starting around 6pm.
Our neighbour (recently retired gendarme) has attached a long sheet of black plastic to his side of a stretch pf the mesh fence on our boundary so his dog can't see ours and run up and down playing with them. She tore her ear on some brambles he hadn't cleaned up on his side and he tried to blame our dogs!! I hope the wind rips it to shreds cos he's made a right pig's ear of it. It would be rather nice if he cleared all the brambles he lets grow on the other 60m as they creep over our side and OH spend ages every winter and spring taming them so they don't get our dogs or the mower.
No need for vitamin D supplements here as I get loads of sunshine pottering about outside, even in winter. Have to wonder how hairy critters like dogs and cats get enough.

A relief for you @Hostafan1 🤗 …. but to be honest they couldn’t turn him down … he’s terminal and in the end stages … that means Continuing Care Funding … no ifs or buts.
Another relief is that we’ve filled up with petrol … there seems to be no problem around here … so we’ll be able to get 3/4 of the way home at least … which is where our overnight stay is booked.
Spent most of today with friends who live near St Agnes 😊 She had a gall bladder op on Tuesday so is a bit fragile poor thing. It was lovely to see them both. It’s been a while …

What a relief, Hostafan, one thing less to worry about. Hope you are both coping as best you can. No excuse to stay on in the South West then, Dove! Safe journey back, and hope all the roads behave themselves. Had an early lunch at the garden centre, ( delicious quiche with goat cheese and red onion, OH had a chicken barbecue wrap which he said was very tasty ) Arrived just before noon when there were plenty of tables free, by twenty past, there was a queue, so we timed that well. Popped into the DIY store afterwards and was very pleased to find a telescopic window washing pole and squeegee thing for under £20. Most of our windows are at ground floor level, as it’s a bungalow, but because we are on the side of a hill, there are a few windows in the rooms above the garage that count as first floor. Got started as soon as we got home, worked brilliantly! Managed to get the pigeon wing dust marks off the glass at last.
What a relief @Hostafan1. Saw your hedgehog feeding station and it reminded me of the time we had rats coming into the kitchen (we knocked the kitchen down and built a new one!). I put a humane trap out outside with the intention of catching it (or them) and releasing into the wild a way away from here. But caught a hedgehog instead. He was a bit big for it but we left it with the door open and he managed to get out. Been a bit wary of trying to attract hedgehogs with cat food as really don't want rats visiting again. Put up with them on the far side of the garden in the winter when I was feeding the birds on the ground as well as via the feeders but haven't seen any since. Thanks for the 'what to eat' advice - we'll see if we need pasta & the fresh tomato sauce on our return.
