I had been looking forward to the Paralympics but find the Channel 4 coverage almost unwatchable.  The studio anchors seems to have either no interest in, or no understanding of, what is going on most of the time.  Much of the time seems to be taken up with inane chattering not helped by some of their studio guests acting like 3 year olds who have just stoked up on E numbers.  Paralympians deserve better coverage than they are getting.

I'm doing what I think most folk did for the Olympics @KT53 and that's recording the live events overnight and watching during the day ... then if there is too much 'understandable familial excitement' for my taste I can fast forward.  I don't find the studio anchors to be not interested in the events ... almost the very opposite ... but the Event Classes do need explaining to the uninitiated by folk who know ... most of these are former Paralympians who are unused to broadcasting and are also understandably excited by what's going on.  There's also quite a bit of folk 'telling their story' to explain why they're doing what they're doing.  None of that is spoiling my enjoyment.   :)

I enjoy the stories behind the participants, but Steph in particular doesn't seem to know what's going on most of the time.
  • Not picking up poo is not related to education, social status or wasted potential. I know people with wasted potential,  low education and lack of resources who are the model of good pet ownership,  especially around dog poo.
Yes, if you look back, I said I think not picking up poo suggests people who are disengaged from society - i.e. who don't care about their neighbours. Whether because they believe themselves above others or just don't care. My comment about lack of education relates to those who neglect animals. As has been pointed out on other threads, it takes very little to teach people - anyone - to care about the welfare of animals, be it pets, farm animals, wildlife, whatever. Some people are not given the chance to 'meet' and to learn the basics of providing the necessary care but those who have the opportunity will almost always respond positively. Much like giving people the chance to have a little space to grow plants.
Sorry misread but I think the same applies to mistreatment. It's not hard to figure out how to treat a dog right.  It's a mammal like us so food,  water,  safe place to live,  no beating, etc. The last bit is one thing I've seen educated do a fair bit too. I think mistreatment is linked to the person,  if they're the type to be cruel they'll be cruel. That's with people and animals.

Should have been BBC broadcasting it like the main Olympics.  Should not treat paralympcs as anything but part of b the Olympics family. C4 isn't as experienced as BBC with Olympic type competitions so should never have been given the rights.

IMHO Olympics and Paralympcs should be merged with both happening in the same time period. Men's 100m final Olympics then the men's Paralympics 100m final. All televised by BBC or possibly ITV.  It's disrespectful to the athletes to treat them differently  IMHO.
