    RosieBB, I suspect that you may be awake and like me watching the wonderful tennis and table tennis from Tokyo. How these athletes overcome adversity leaves me in awe!

    Good morning all.

    I'm glad LB and Topbird had a good time.

    My new handyman has arrived. He was the previous owner's handyman. There is a good system in France for home help people in house and garden. You declare their hours and pay, you pay the state their pension contribution and employer's whatever, then the state gives you a discount on the pay and expenses which it takes off your tax bill or reimburses if you don't pay much tax. He's gone off to mend the veg garden gate and he's going to fit a loft ladder and prune a couple of trees.
    Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    Morning everyone,
    Had an awful nights sleep, laid there waiting to nod off till just gone one, got fed up and then went downstairs for awhile. Went back up but was still awake at 4ish. Eventually nodded off, but woke at 6.30. My eyes feel like they're halfway down my face 🤪
    Sounds  like you had a lovely day together @Ladybird4 & @Topbird
    @Busy-Lizzie I could do with a handyman like that. Think we might have to have help in the garden next year. Our garden is getting too big for OH to cope with. I can do a lot, but cutting the grass with the petrol mower at the other end of the garden is too heavy for me.
    Very autumnal here this morning, a bit chilly and grey skies.
    Have a lovely day everyone.
    Hope @Chivetalking and @debs64 are ok. Take care

    Missed you there Lily . So sorry you had such an awful night . Do try to rest today . Every afternoon after I have done my work I go upstairs and read .I often nod off ,gives me a bit of a boost .
    We are going to get help with our outside hedge next year .OH isn’t supposed to use electrical equipment and I am finding it harder using the hedge trimmers on such a tall hedge . Our garden is small .I am not surprised you have decided to get help with your bigger garden ,very sensible .
  • Sorry @Songbird-1 not a sit on mower, just a big heavy petrol mower. It is a self propelled one, but I still can't use it. Although a small sit on one would really help. Our boys would always help and have done, but I don't want to ask them to do it every week. They'd be cross with me for thinking that 😉😂😂
    @Rubee I don't like using the hedge trimmer either😂

    Definitely having a lazy day Hazel and Ruby, I have no energy at all today. Will try not to nod off this afternoon, incase it makes me stay awake again tonight.
  • ante Good morning everyone.  LB and Topbird I’m glad you had a great day together.  Topbird the f&c research continues.  LB the Paralympics have been great and good to have something to watch if you’re awake in the early hours.  They really are achievers.  Topbird enjoy the rest of your day.  Hazel it’s good to be in out of the cooler temperatures.  Lily sorry to hear you had a bad night, mine was intermittent.   Quite autumnal here too.   I hope you get some help with the lawnmower.  Busy great you have a handy man to help you.

    Morning all,

    This nippy weather ain't doing much for my tomatoes - just sitting there perfectly formed but green :o I'm considering bringing the 4 plants that are currently outside in the mini greenhouse inside the house. Might be a bit tricky and I'm not sure OH would enjoy them on the dining table!
