Hope everyone’s had a restful night … I went to sleep listening to the calls of a juvenile tawny owl. Now we have a fiery sunrise and the staccato chatter of a magpie close by this morning …

There’s so much pressure on hospitals to get people home because hospitals are seen as unsafe …. particularly in Covid times.
The thing is if he contracted Covid or MRSA that would of course impact on the hospital, both because of the difficulty in nursing him appropriately given his other needs, and also on the hospital stats … which shouldn’t but which do cause pressure to travel downwards onto frontline nursing staff.
When I called 111 last week, I told them NOT to send and ambulance and the should NOT be in hospital. My exact words were " If you send him to hospital, you'll be admitting a bed blocker. He needs to be in a secure unit " I told the Doc in A&E the same thing that evening.
That’s their decision to make. They made it. Now it’s up to them but he can’t go home without them putting in in a minimum of 2:1 additional care 24/7. They won’t do that.
