Sending hugs and good vibes to @Yviestevie 🤗
not only has Hosta’s gallbladder been excised, but OHs manager had hers whipped out a few weeks ago (4?) and already she’s back at work and full of beans … a new woman 😊
my thoughts are with you re your OHs changed life … Bdooly tough on both of you … it’ll take some time to come to terms with it.

Had a lovely day, thanks everyone.  Fabulous meal - tasting menu with associated wines so 6 dishes named on the menu plus 3 "mises en bouche" nibbly things to start and an extra sweet one after the two desserts.  All beautifully prepared and presented and all of it from Vendée producers from the fish and seafood caught, the veggies and herbs, the flour for the spelt bread, the coffee liqueur from Luçon.   Only the wines and olive oil came from elsewhere in France and some spices from "abroad".

We met an interesting couple to chat to briefly on the next table - she American and he French/German, living on Noirmoutier.  After that a stroll along the coast but not on the beach as the tide was right in.  Quite a few fishermen with rods, dogs with balls, wind and kite surfers plus sailing boats to entertain us.

Home via the little coast roads we haven't yet explored and then walkies for OH and patch prep for tomorrow for me.

I'm so sorry you've been having a rough time @Yviestevie and I do think feeling frustrated/exasperated/angry about it all is quite normal.  Have a good rant on here whenever you need it.

Sorry your back's gone again @WonkyWomble.  Maybe time for your GP to refer you to a back specialist for a consultation and some proper pain control.   The Alexander technique helped me for many years but in the end I needed cortisone infiltrations for 3 slipped lumbar discs.

@Pat E the only processed foods I eat are bacon, cheese (not a lot), some curry pastes, tinned pulses and tomatoes.   Jams and marmalades are home made as are stocks and sauces.  Plenty of fresh fruit and veg.   Bread once or twice a week, plenty of oily fish and no beef.   Lots of ginger and garlic which are supposed to be good for inflammation as are turmeric and cinnamon and many others on your list.   Once my GP gets back off hols I shall go and ask him about a better rheumatologist and some acute pain relief.   The current chap says arthritic joints only hurt when you use them and I need to take 3 x 1g paracetamol a day.

I'm going to check out @AUnty Rach's moon and then head for bed.

Hope things get better for you soon @Yviestevie, you've had an awful lot to cope with.

Glad you've made it safely to Poitiers @Busy-Lizzie, dinner on the terrace sounded nice.
Good luck with the rest of the journey.

I'm so pleased to be home again and glad to be staying put for the next few weeks. Feels like I've spent hours (and I probably have) just sitting in the car, dashing round the country. We enjoyed Bournemouth, visiting old childhood haunts and did get to Compton Acres Gardens after all when it stopped raining. Their Italian and Japanese gardens were stunning.

Whilst they were staying in our house, my son took the bunk beds down for me, leaving one single one for my granddaughter/guests, makes the room look much bigger. Her older brother now sleeps up in the loft room. Only problem now is where to store the redundant bed! We visited a GC recently where they had painted an old wooden bed pale blue and used it as a plant stand, looked quite good but I don't have the space.

Our weather forecast looks reasonably good from Monday onwards so I'm hoping to have a gardening week and big tidy up.

I’m glad you had a good day Obelixx.  I missed your note that it was your anniversary. 🙄

we are in for a wet and windy day here, but so far just the wind. All the Acacia has burst into yellow blooms in every direction. Makes a nice display.

These Acacias are Snowy River Wattles (Acacia boormanii) except for a couple of tall ones trying to outshine the others. Those ones are Wyalong wattles (Acacia cardiophylla) and are a bit later bursting into flower. Interestingly, the cardiophylla leaves are actually heart shaped. (Not really surprised since they’ve been named for their leaves). 🙄
