Commiserations to all suffering with backs and gall bladders etc. Had my gall bladder out many years ago ( keyhole surgery so only tiny scars ) The low fat diet while waiting was a bit of a bore, but I lost plenty of weight, which was good in my case. Weirdly, I discovered that I got painful attacks not only if I ate anything fatty, but also if I looked at it! Took my daughter to her school fair, looked with great longing at the homemade cake stand, and had to take a dose of pethidine and get OH to come and collect us. I’ve been fine since the op, but a dear friend is suffering. His gall bladder is fused to his liver and can’t be removed, so it’s diet control and medication for him. Seems to be managing ok, but annoyed at having to restrict what he eats.
I've just been admonished by @WonkyWomble for not checking in on time this morning. I've been warned that if that sort of behaviour continues she'll start taking a Register in the morning, and those absent will have their photos put on the side of milk cartons 😲
She's much bossier than her mum 😉
She's also asked me to thank you all for your kind wishes ... she has an appointment with an osteopath tomorrow afternoon (recommended by one of her customers). Watch this space ... she will report back.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
@Ergates. That sound just like my daughter in law, no fat whatsoever, and if a tiny bit slipped in, out came the painkillers. she lost weight but she looks much better for it, now she’s had the gall bladder out she’s still sticking to the no fat diet.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
Love those gloves @Pat E - especially the little detail on the back. Great news @punkdoc - phew! Sorry to hear how things are with you @Yviestevie. A friend has just had her gall bladder out - she was in such pain. But she's running around like a mad thing now. And sorry to hear about the poor lady lost to covid. Good luck with the flooring hunt. Hope your back gets sorted @WonkyWomble. Please don't put me on the 'late' register as I really do have an awful lot on at the moment! Just taken delivery of a load of wooden boards with stakes ready to staple the posters to when they arrive tomorrow. They'll go out later in the week to advertise the garden street market. But tomorrow - off to Wagamamas in the evening to celebrate elder granddaughters 16th! Where did this little girl go?
Talk about where did a little girl go , one of the twins R has just passed her driving test. @WonkyWomble, if your osteopath is anything like mine, you will feel like you gone 3 rounds with Mike Tyson the day after. It works though.
Hello Forkers, Working my way through 4 lots of bedding and ditto of bath towels plus our own dirty holiday clothes. Got 2 lots done and dried (but of course now ironing awaits) and will do the other lots tomorrow. After a cloudy start, it got really quite hot and sunny later afternoon so did some gardening and restaked my Fairy roses which have grown much bigger than I had anticipated. Managed to find some tall plant hoops at Compton Acres Sat so bought four while I could get them. I've also picked loads of runner beans which we'll give away to the neighbours - far too many for us to eat and I don't like home frozen ones. Now cooling off after a quick shower and waiting for wine o'clock before cooking dinner.
Lizzie27, mine was pretty dramatic. First onset having a very nice lunch (in the pub by the river in Saltford!) when I got a violent pain in my stomach. Thought it was dodgy food, and pain was worse than having a baby! When it happened a second time, I saw the doctor who sent me for an ultrasound. However, I have two friends who suffered for years from general tummy related malaise. Nothing you could put a finger on, but uncomfortable and tiresome. Both eventually diagnosed with gall bladder problems, and after surgery, running around like youngsters again.
Evening all, everyone gets gold stars 🌟 for attendance! @Dovefromabove passed on her worry gene to me so if I see she hasn't been on I start fretting! no one will get told off, but the milk carton threat is a good plan I think for long time absences! 😉 Mike Tyson eh @Allotment Boy hope i don't punch him back, I know my reflexes!!
I'm back home. The house is full of cobwebs and dead ant debris but hardly any dust. I've hoovered my bedroom and the bathroom. Garden is OK, may have lost 3 shrubs, Hydrangea Pink Annabelle, Elderflower Black Lace and, surprisingly, a Perovskia. The Perovskia in the flower bed is fine. The round courgettes are like footballs. Picked raspberries for dinner, pud. Leeks look great and so does perpetual spinach, but some is going to seed. Patrick has mown and strimmed. I think the donkey was pleased to see me.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Interesting comments about gall bladder problems and fat restriction, sometimes wondered if that's what I've got.
