Morning Biglad and SGL. Hey Biglad, I reckon I could cope with an underarm and throw the opposition! I remember Trevor Chappell doing that.
    Have super days everyone.

Hello all  :D  Hope everyone had a restful night.

I was woken by an early visitor to the front lawn ... a green woodpecker was after the ants and another was yaffling from nearby.

The hose is out giving the Lon. Serotina a good soaking ... it was looking decidedly limp yesterday evening when the sun got around to it ... then I'll connect the hose to the soaker hose along the tomatoes.

The (very small amount of) ironing has been done ... mainly linen shirts that had got too dry too quickly on the line and were more crumpled than is wearable, and some face masks.  Now I've just got a few kitchen jobs and the day is ours to play with  :)

Enjoy the sunshine everyone, don't get overheated and stay safe  :)

Morning everyone .Not quite awake . Was woken in the early hours by Jim’s emergency hub ( next door neighbour) We are one of his key holders .After expecting to find a problem with Jim ,we found Jim watching tv and totally unaware that he had pressed his alarm . Making sure he was ok we locked up and came home .We didn’t get much sleep and we are still a bit phased.

Morning all. A better night for me thank goodness - fingers crossed it stays that way.

Going to do some weeding around the new hedge. It was given a good soaking last night so they should be easy to pull. Then I might make a start on the big woodland / slightly wild border but must try to stop at about 11.30 because it will be around 30C again today 🥵 That border is all quite shady so working won't be too bad.

Sorry to hear you had an interrupted night Rubee. It's so hard to switch off and go back to sleep after something like that isn't it?

Good the shoulder is feeling better LB. Some gentle massage and stretching exercises might help.
You'll have to try the damp flannel on Lily. Harry used to sit there with an upturned face and eyes all screwed up - like a Just William getting his mucky face wiped before church. I didn't have to hold him so he must have liked it. Wasn't quite so keen on having muddy paws wiped clean though - especially the back ones!

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

Rubee ... as someone whose late Aged Ps were helped by a key-holder such as you several times when they pressed their button ... can I just give a huge vote of gratitude to all such good citizens who help the far-flung family members when they can't be there.  <3

Fantastic work Ruby. It is so worrying when you get the call so you and your OH must have been quite worried as to what you might find. Thank goodness all was fine with Jim.

    Good morning all.

Well done Ruby, that's so kind of you.

The tree man came this morning to get rid of the huge ivy that is threatening our car port roof. It is actually growing up next door's hawthorn tree. It's the ivy that OH was trying to control when he was up a ladder with a long handled chain saw and wrenched his hip, which started all the pain and eventually the Xray showed severe arthritis. NDNs are an elderly couple (I suppose we are too, even though we are only 27) and can no longer cope with it so OH offered to call the tree man and pay him. However, there is a bird with babies nesting in the top so the tree man couldn't do it. I think it's our friendly front garden robin.

We have a couple of friends coming for dinner tonight so I went to the next door village's shop for a few things. Friend's had a tooth out so it's fish pie, soft. The shop actually had fresh cod. It's a very good shop with some luxury type food and home made pies, great baker and a lot of gin! All the flavours of gin that you can imagine.
