That's a bit inconsiderate @debs64. When OH had the new fence put up here he discussed it with our neighbour first. Ours is wooden but a bit orange, hoping it will mellow with age.
We've done the weekly shop, SM was looking a bit bare. Also bought a pressure washer, patio needs doing.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Afties all. I am leaking all over. It is rather hot! Did a Lily's TV load which is all done and dusted now. Got the plants in the shade watered and thats me done in the garden for today.
Yvie, any news of Gabriel? I hope he's home again now.
Busy, you are living up to your name. My suite and chairs are leather so so covers to wash (thank goodness). I would hate to have to wrestle the cushions back into covers again. Duvets are about my level. I wonder why some of the SM shelves were a bit bare.
T'Bird, did you get your toenails painted? I haven't done mine for almost two years. Always do them before a French trip.
Hazel, my sunflowers were just described as 'patio sunflowers' no named variety, when I got them as small plants at the GC. I'm impressed with them though
Debs, sorry to hear about the metal horror peeking above your fence. When you talk of bamboo are you just thinking of a manufactured screen or planting some? I only ask because I had a bamboo - the golden stemmed variety, alledgedly not supposed to run but it flipping well did and it took me several days of blood, sweat, tears (and swearing!) to dig it and its runners out of my garden. It went everywhere.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Aww, @debs64 such beautiful sweet peas, bet they smell amazing. Oh heck a metal fence, won't be able to grow things up/over it to cover it up either! 🤦🏻♀️ Would have been nice if they'd spoken to you about it first😕 @Yviestevie any news on Gabriel. It's been very hot again here, but now there's a nice breeze. Will go outside again after we've eaten. 'Sco delivery this afternoon....no new potatoes, cans of Tango, bag of salad leaves or cocktail sausages this week 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ I'm getting a bit fed up t getting potatoes etc now. Will have to pop out in the morning for a few bits.
Hi folks, unfortunately Gabriel will be in another night. He is getting better but still can't maintain his oxygen levels when he sleeps so Secondborn is on her way to the hospital. She's looking forward to seeing him but says the hospital is terribly hot and she is dreading another night.
Yes LB - toe nails are all painted - a rather dainty shade very similar to a Patty's Plum oriental poppy😎 Tend to do mine only for high days and (summer) holidays too.
Well the thunder got louder and more ominous but nothing happened for ages. Then we had 20 mins of very heavy rain and now the sun's back out. It's currently akin to being in one of the steam rooms we frequent on our German tours! Love a proper steam room but this is very humid and rather unpleasant - but I guess all the hardy geraniums and other perennials which had a short back and sides this week will really appreciate it.
SGL & BL - I've taken to having a bit of a back up shopping list when I visit the SM these days. First choices are often missing. Real problems on the farms / market gardens with labour shortages (mainly because the E Europeans aren't here) and I guess distribution centres, hauliers, factories etc have similar problems. Add in the Covid / self-isolation problems and it's amazing there's much in the shops at all....
Edited to add: sorry to hear about Gabriel Yvie.
Lily looks pretty chilled to me LB!
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
You snuckered in there Yvie. What a shame that little Gabriel has to stay in for another night. We know how hot our homes have been so it will be particularly uncomfortable in hospital.

Love the sound of your colour selection for your toenails T'Bird. I do favour lilac/purpley shades for mine. I would love a storm - would go and stand out in it, but as I'm expected across the road at 19:30 I would like it to happen tomorrow!

I wonder if rain will reach here, it's cloudy now. We had lunch in the garden. The thermometer said 24°, but I've realised now that it always says that. I'll have to buy a new one. I miss mercury, it worked so much better than whatever they use now, but it's so poisonous. I remember when we used to play with it in the science lab at school.
I've done hardly anything this afternoon, snoozed in front o the TV mostly.

Sorry Gabriel has to stay another night @Yviestevie hope he's well enough to come home tomorrow. Must be extremely hot in hospital. And very uncomfortable for patients to lie on plastic pillow and mattress coverings
