  • @Eustace Amazing still picking plums!
Apart from the birds getting many of ours we have not had any for some months now.
    Briliant harvest.
  • We have been processing tomatoes too.
We blend them down and freeze as a concentrate,  then we can decide whether to make soup or sauce  later.

Apples picked yesterday. Quite a few have wasp marks, so won't store for long.

And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth :)

  • @Eustace we will be taking and storing our abundant apples this week.
We put them in an open container so that the air can still flow around them and keep them in a cool place.
This allows us to have apples that we can eat well into the late spring.
We do check all the time for possible problems and these are then taken out for the birds...who love them.
  • Your apples look just like mine @Eustace The marks are only on the skin in most cases, but it does mean they won't keep as long.

Thanks @bertrand-mabel @purplerallim for your advice. Ones with spots etc., a portion I cook, rest I core them and freeze. I even make an apple stir-fry with coconut, which goes well with rice. Nothing goes to waste in our household. :)

  • Picked our last pea beans yesterday. Some for eating, some for seeds for next year and some to have the seeds cooked , cooled and put in rice vinegar for salads next year.
Took 3 beetroots and parboiled them and put them in white wine vinegar for later in the year.
The latest dwarf beans are flowering and so hopefully we will have another crop...maybe!
The chillies are doing well. Brought in 3 pots into the garden room to see if they will overwinter.
Cucamelons!!!! Never harvested so many from so few. Given away as many as we can and they still keep going.
    Spinach brilliant.
    Swiss chard seedlings not.
