    A few more tomatoes:

Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth :)

Last of the tomatoes and beans, today
A few carrots I grew in a pot, plenty of beetroot and leeks. Yesterday one crown of celery made 3 containers of soup, now frozen. Had the first bunches of grapes from the vine. Masses of apples and pears. Chard and squashes still to go

@Eustace we managed to pick 2 buckets of white wine grapes (outdoors) and these are infusing and getting ready for the demijons tomorrow.
Still having issues with mildew for the 2nd year even with the outdoor vines.
I left my grapes on the vine one weekend too long…

At least Mr Squirrel has a full belly 😭🤣
  • @JoeX So sorry.
Thankfully the squirrels here haven't moved onto the grapes.
Heard a programme about vineyards in the UK and that they aren't harvesting until later in the month because the weather was so poor earlier on.
Good thing I heard it after we had harvested ours.
    4 demijons bubbling away!

@JoeX So sorry to hear that. We have a resident robin and a few blackbirds who have a feast regularly of grapes which are hidden between the leaves. Still we manage to get around 20-30 kg from a single vine, which is more than enough for us.

Yes, the dessert grapes had just ripened in time for the last of the hot sun but the wine grapes are still half way ripe - I don’t think the Bacchus, Grenache or Pinot would’ve made it anyway this year.  Saw him picking through them today any way!

I grow them for ornamentation and not the crop, A few bunches for the kids would’ve been nice though. Cant believe he took every single grape in the one weekend I’m away in two years 😅

Some more figs, tomatoes, beans and bitter gourds.

  • @Eustace again envy with the figs. For 2 years now we have had such a poor harvest...last year nothing and then this year managed 2!!
Not sure what is going on but we will continue to try to get more next year.
  • Our harvest of quinces this year has been a lot lower than normal. However managed to harvest a bucketful of lovely fragrant ones today (a month later than previously) and started to bottle some. Very time consuming so will do more tomorrow. Used to make quince jelly but....very very time consuming but lovely.
Will also do some spiced ones for eating in the Spring. Photo shows just a few of them.
