Also you can share with neighbours. I leave a box full of plums on my driveway. It is usually empty before evening. One of my neighbours left a jar of plum jam in return.

First year growing any kind of fruit/ veggies. Carrots are doing amazing. Really pleased with them as are my peas. We have loads! My leeks are doing ok, still pretty small tho. Strawberries have been a bit of a fail. Barely had any at all ( west Scotland for ref). Sweet corn is huge but has big purple flowery things out the top? Is that meant to happen? And tomato’s are doing ok, still small and green. Overall though I’m happy with my first attempt at growing our own food.
@bertrand-mabel thank you! I am so chuffed with them. I have had a few dodgy legged ones too lol but thankfully no carrot fly damage as yet which was my biggest worry.
Well this year we beat the blackbirds. Here is a bowl of blueberries the best we have ever had. How come? One bush was covered with fleece so the birds couldn't get in but rain and light could. The berries are from that one plant. It still has loads of unripened ones.
The one not covered has about 10 berries left. The birds take them even when they are green.
We have 2 Victoria plum trees in the orchard. One though isn't as per photo. So I have just finished bottling them for eating later in the year.
The other photo shows fruit from one of our chokeberry(Aronia) bushes. Yes the birds got all the fruit from the other one. The bush is lovely as it gives lovely fragrant flowers in the Spring then the fruit and then great Autumn colours. They have also been bottled.
@bertrand-mabel nice harvest. I am hearing chokeberry for the first time. What do you do with the fruit? Does it taste like currants or is it like blueberry? TIA.

Hello @Eustace The first year that we had the bushes we had so many that after eating much of them from the plant we couldn't keep up. They can taste like purple grapes as long as the summer has been good.
They can be dried but we don't have the facility to do this, so the next option was to bottle them in a honey solution. However we also made wine from the huge crop which gave a wonderful colour and taste.
This year with all the issues of the weather (and the birds) it will be only bottled as we have still so many other fruits that need to be consumed "raw" and can't be bottled/frozen easily.
It is a great bush giving not just the fruit but something throughout the seasons.
These were hiding on the opposite side of the pot, under large leaves! Those are regular sized mug and kettle. They weigh 1.5kg each. Green machine and a ronde de nice courgette.

Plenty of chillies; I use them green in my cooking, so sliced them thin and have frozen them.
