@punkdoc … we’re here … I’m going to put my headphones on and listen to The Shuttleworths on BBC Sounds (a guilty pleasure) then the World Service will chuntering on quietly ‘til morning .., night night … 😴

We enjoyed our evening with our friends, started with drinks in the garden. The fish pie went down well. It was big, I thought there would be some left or tomorrow but we ate the lot. Then we had sticky toffee pudding (cheated, Morrison's best is better than my homemade).
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Good morning all . I'm having a cuppa then heading to the Hosta tunnel to fight with the horse flies whilst watering. Take all the time to soak up with early morning peace @punkdoc
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ it is indeed a gorgeous morning @punkdoc 😎 hopefully I’ll get the watering done early … haven’t got as much to do as you have @Hostafan1 … it’s a comfy 15C here and not destined to get above 26 … perhaps a shower later on. OH has a checkup at the dentist this morning … he’ll go on his bike so a quiet day here for me … some duck legs to braise with veg and butter beans … I’ll do it in the slow cooker so the kitchen doesn’t get hot.
Keep warm @Pat E Glad you’ve got plenty of firewood 👍

Morning folks, been up an hour, done a bit of paper work sorting. Steve Tu,this year is the first Scarecrow Festival for Willingdon,in previous years Polegate, Friston had them. Have you seen the "robot" road behind the BP petrol station on Eastbourne road,it's brilliant
Back from the dog walk - it's a lovely time to be out but the horse flies are fierce today. It's absolutely still out there - not the tiniest breeze.
OH has gone to pick up the shopping, we're expecting a man to come today to do a service on the digger so not much building work planned.
I've done the tomatoes' armpits this morning but need to do some watering in a bit, when I get a chance. For now, I'd better go and shower and get myself presentable for work. Well. The bits of me that are visible on zoom, anyway.

I had a full blown stroke 5 years ago (virtually a year after my wife's death) and went through the post stroke reviews. I'm not toooo overweight (5' 10" ish, just over 12st - and look relatively fit and healthy), have never smoked, BP and heart rate showed ok and no obvious blockages detected by ultrasound. When I chatted to the consultant, he was totally disinterested in general lifestyle as such and focussed on presumably the 'tick a box' options - so when I said I did drink (6 cans of beer a week and sometimes a bottle of wine in the same period) - and because that took me over the Gov 'unit' limit - that was the culprit. Nothing to do with me not doing anything since my wife had been diagnosed two and a half years earlier and the stress of her death, the grief and follow ups.
I think I was lucky anyway though, as the stroke only really hit my left arm/hand - and I started 're-training' that straight away (I went for a while being left handed to force me to use it) and managed to get that side back to relative normality.
My brain still feels odd though - so if your OH's the same make allowances! - I feel a lot slower (I can't find words and my 30 year old son now beats me at Uni Challenge) and when (as we all do) I can't remember something, pre stroke I could feel my brain actively trying to search/remember. Now I have a strange feeling when I can't recall something that my brain has just hit a wall and is staring into a void. Just blank. Very odd feeling.

Too hot to sleep, so been sitting in the garden since 5, quite a heavy dew and really quite pleasant.

we’ve been cold again today, but Hubby decided to stack some of the firewood he had delivered yesterday. Rather him than me.

Both tunnels watered by 8am.
Breakfast, shower then head up to visit Hubby.
A blissful 27C forecast today.
