Morning all, it's already 23c. It was unbearable late yesterday afternoon, got to 34.6c which is way too hot for me. It was even too hot to sit outside on the terrace for dinner at 8.15pm. Waiting for a new coffee table to be delivered this morning so the old one is sitting outside, hopefully to be collected later.
We'll be staying inside today, just pootling around I think. The ironing will have to wait!

I'm sleeping very well considering the heat ... I make sure that all the upstairs windows are open but the wooden slatted blinds are said 'against the sun' by the time the sun gets around to them ... so far this is keeping upstairs fairly cool. I also splashed  out a few weeks ago out on an old-fashioned cotton cellular  blanket .(from a supplier specialising in supplying good hotels) ... it's perfect for sleeping under this weather ...  I find it better than just a cotton sheet ...  highly recommended.   :)

Very hot here yesterday too but a light breeze in the evening made it a bit better.  We are using those gel mats on the bed, to help cool us to get to sleep.  By early morning though we take it off as it gets too warm as it absorbs heat from us.

Good morning.  Disturbed night.  Knee throbs, cramps and lively pussycat.   Cosmos has very thick fur and is plump so found it hard to find a cool spot yesterday.  That meant he needed lots of cuddles and play at  3:30.  Lovely.  Minstrel - slimmer with finer fur - was in full activity mode and 2 meeces to crunch.

Anyway, all fine now and there is a lovely breeze so I shall go and water my treasures but probably not do much else outside as it's set to get to 37C.

Enjoy your time alone @punkdoc.  Eat what you like, sleep when you like, potter about at will or just flop.   Hope your day goes well @Hostafan1 and there are some good moments.  Does music trigger memories for him and calm him?

Glad your dinner went well @Busy-Lizzie.  I do little sticky toffee puddings in a dariole mould and then freeze what we don't need.  Luscious.  Leftover medieval style salmon in pastry for us tonight - it's stuffed with butter, stem ginger, raisins and almonds.   Fab, hot or cold.

Stay safe in the heat Forkers.  Plenty of fluids of the non alcoholic variety.

    Morning all,  afternoon @Pat E

Been awol for a while but I have an enforced day off work as car is having mot. Realised its the first time in about a year that I've had nothing to do.  Weekends are often just as busy as weekdays but just unpaid cuz it's housework,  washing,  ironing,  shopping,  cooking and if I'm lucky,  my own gardening.

Now on second coffee with all blinds down but windows open until its hotter outside than in.  Then all windows will be shut tight until its cooler outside than in. The cats don't understand this but they can use the pet cooling mats that I usually use to sleep on! 🤣
Keep cool folks,  do nothing! 😎👍

@steveTu Hubby is the same,  just can't find the right word.  He's doing really well. Movement is OK now in his right arm and leg but he sort of shuffles when he stands up, to get his balance I suppose.

@Yviestevie ,he's doing really well :D  ... my Pa had a stroke relatively early on ... he made a really good recovery, was really quite active, did lots of travelling etc and never had another one.  He used to say it had affected his hearing on one side, but I've a feeling that was so he had the option of ignoring Ma if the situation warranted it  ;)

Disappointed of Norfolk here ... the new shoes I ordered are too tight ... they're Hotter and the same size as all my other Hotter shoes, but a different style. I've always had awkward feet  :/  I have to go into the city on Friday for a Specsaver appointment, so I'll take the shoes back to the Hotter shop rather than return them in the post ... I think another half size would do it so I'll see if they have any in that size in the shop or I can order some more  :)
