Greetings Forkers. It's the little comments and gestures that make a day isn't it?
Married just once here at 30 years of age. Never intended to get married after experiencing my parents wedded non-bliss but he snuck up on me and we've grown together as well as allowing t'other to "be".
Another fine, hot, sunny day here so I have a wash on. The 4.5 tog duvet has been abandoned and is airing outside so just sheets and a thin patchwork quilt now. Went out to find 4 chucks round the front of the house, not at all bothered by OH playing with his larger strimmer and being very noisy or by the two dogs running about and barking at a passing cyclist. 2 more laying fresh warm eggs down in the hen house.
The dahlias I planted yesterday are looking good but I think I'll remove some flower buds to help them concentrate energy on settling down. More flower planting today I think and then the outing to the prefecture mid afternoon.
I like your gloves @Pat E. Here they go for something they call "mitaines" which are like fingerless mittens so hands and knuckles stay warm but finger ends are free to articulate. Might be easier to knit, especially in small sizes.

We got it right first time @Allotment Boy .....but we were both nearly 30 before we tied the knot. Spent our twenties having fun instead 😉. Its also funny how quickly society changed .....I am not much younger than 27, and I was amongst the first of my close friends to get married. Don’t think I remember anyone taking the plunge before they were 25. Or if they did, they didn’t invite me 🤣
We had an impromptu trip to the beach yesterday evening - had a lovely walk after the day trippers had gone home.
Thanks Obelixx. I meant to say that I saw your patterns last month, but got distracted and forgot to thank you at the time. I’ll stick to the ones I do because the locals are used to them now. It’s just the kids size that are really fiddly. 😳
Had our 50th wedding anniversary in March. Helped having 9 fun years together before having children. Now they are off our hands, we can rediscover our old interests and hobbies, while exploring new ones. I think the secret of our success is that I am very easy going and amenable! Not sure OH would agree with me, though!
Huge pile of brambles to shred for the green bins, very satisfying. I tackled a very neglected part of our woodland, and rescued some rather leggy rhododendrons which were in danger of being engulfed by brambles. Escaped with minimal scratches too, very pleased about that.
We have almost reached WARP speed. OH and I have been to the prefecture to get our residence cards but now have to wait up to 30 days for them to be processed and arrive by post. We also have to be good for the rest of our lives as they took our finger prints.
On the way home we picked up my Star Wars magnolia and a grass form the relay pint at a small local SM and they had Heinz beans in stock too. Double delight.
As we left the chooks were in a dry bed near the front gate so OH had to keep an eye while I drove the car out. When we got home again they'd made it through a gap twixt fence and hedge and into my enclosed rose garden. 3 new dust baths in one corner! And they like the taste of OH's newly grown grass which will be a lawn one day.
Off to do a bit more planting now. Expecting rain on Thursday and Friday and that's always better for settling new plants so want to get loads in if I can.

Two are still looking less bonny that the others @chicky and are now called Scruffy and Tatty. The others are all well-feathered and they've all put on weight and fluff and feathers and grown decent combs. Happy, chatty chooks now and lovely to have around.

We've been married 51 years, more luck than judgement as we were only 20 and 21.Parents said it would never last, maybe we just wanted to prove them wrong. We thought we were too young to do the boring things like mortgages so went off travelling for nearly 3 years before we came home to buy a house and start a family.

Just in for a cuppa tea - it's like being in a fight out there - lots of potting on going on...
