OH's GP has arranged for an ECG at the surgery tomorrow. She wondered if having it at the familiar surgery might give a better result. She'll send it to a cardiologist.

@tui34 they gave him a calming tablet before his cataract, but he would need a prescription from his GP. Thanks to Covid it has been very difficult getting in touch with a GP. He had to wait ages in a queue on the phone this morning and they aren't doing face to face appointments.

I've been cleaning windows. Had to stop when shoulder protested.

So sorry to hear about all the stress your poor OH is going through @Busy-Lizzie. Fingers crossed for the ECG at the surgery tomorrow.
No, @Nanny Beach - I am not Jackie Weaver. They don't listen to me!  Turns out we can't just do the signs etc. First we have to have an audit of all of the signs we have and what needs replacing, then identify the gaps where we should have information signs, then engage some kind of marketing agency to come up with some kind of branding design so everything looks of a piece.  Then we have to negotiate with the owners of all of the areas where we want the signs updated/put up.  All of this has to be presented to the appropriate town council committee for its approval and only then might we go ahead and actually get some signs done.  By which time I doubt if there will be anything left in the budget.  If it was down to me we could have decided today that all the signs will have a black background, we will use the same clear font for all of them, we contact the guy who drew the original maps to update them and we get the signs done.
Also feeling a bit deflated after the build up to the garden open day and dull chilly day today.  So ignore me everyone, in a bit of a grump.

@Busy-Lizzie   Seems your GP has a sympathetic ear.  Great!  Good luck for tomorrow - and if your OH feels that, then he may not feel so nervous.

@Busy-Lizzie Sorry your OH is still having trouble with Medics. I  had to have an op on my eye a while ago,  they wanted me awake.  I assured them if they came within 1 metre of my eye with a scalpel I would be off down the corridor faster than they could blink. They did it under sedation,  I was completely unaware.

    DidyW,are you Jackie Weaver!!!
    That made me laugh!

You must both be in a spin about the postponed op @Busy-Lizzie. It will be very worthwhile to have a cardio check though - will give you both less stress when the op day does arrive then. Anyone can have an operation but not everyone can have a safe anaesthetic.

@sam bevington - I sometimes mix some sugar and oil and scrub my hands (add essential oil or some lemon or herbs for a more Spa feel) - makes the hands soft at least.

    Have a good evening all.

Sam, probably too late for today, but my late mum always recommended handwashing some clothes for getting fingernails clean. I remember also, as a student before the days of wearing surgical gloves, one of the lecturers advising the same thing, for a student who had turned up for a clinic after spending the weekend servicing his motorbike.
