The muntjac is still barking ... probably a doe in season ... 'come and get me fellas, I'm over here' or some such message I imagine.

Still damp ... OH has discovered that somehow he has this week off ... I think he had some leave he has to take before the A/L year begins in July ... he thought he'd used it all up but of course he didn't take leave when he was on furlough so some accumulated.

My back/hip is still niggling, so I'm going to be careful today ... I have goosegogs to freeze so I'll top and tail them whilst watching Wimbledon ... and I need to get on with some stuff in the studio ... supper is pork chops, jacket potatoes and salad ... I might 'jerk' the chops ... what do you think folks?  They're lovely big juicy ones on the bone  ... proper, from the farm shop.

Morning all.  The rain has obligingly watered the garden for us overnight.
Big meeting this morning with bods from the town council and the district council to progress the town plan.  All the signs need repainting and we need some new tourist info boards so hoping town council will agree and we can access the money from the district council to do the work.
Good luck with the In Bloom judging @D0rdogne_Damsel.

    Morning all.

The hospital rang, bad news. They have postponed OH's hip replacement this Friday as the anaesthetist wants a cardiac assessment. OH has white coat syndrome. His BP and pulse are normal until he has to see a doctor then they shoot up because of stress. When he went for the pre-op tests he was very stressed that they would postpone the op so his BP and pulse shot up, so they did an ECG. He is having ectopic beats. On the Internet it says they are usually due to stress and usually harmless. When he had his cataract op they just gave him a tranquiliser and all returned to normal.

He has to have an appointment with his GP first. GP is ringing after lunch. It took over a year to get a date for the op, then Covid hit and it was postponed for a year. Now he walks very slowly with a huge limp that makes him all crooked. Pain means he doesn't sleep properly. He's lost weight. His life style has changed so much, he has to use a mobility scooter. He was so fit 2 1/2 years ago. He really needs this op.

We are now both stressed and worried.

    @Dovefromabove   What are goosegogs?   ;)

@Busy-Lizzie  Would it be possible for him to take a sedative/calming tablet before he goes to these appointments?  I realise that you weren't with him for his pre-op appt.  Hopefully, you can persuade the GP to help out.   I understand the pain he is in, it's awful and sometimes so bad that it makes you feel sick and you don't want to eat.  When I knew I was having the op and the date, I took pain killers as I needed them whereas before, I just put up with the pain.  I was still working at school when I had all this palaver, so changing classrooms was dreadful.  Good luck with the doctor. @tui34 😊 Goosegogs is an old country name for gooseberries. 😋

I thought it might be - I was just too dumb to assume.  My dad's favourite in a pie - hot with a couple of dollops of vanilla ice-cream!!

A very sensible man @tui34 ... I've just had a dish of poached goosegogs with a dollop of thick creamy yoghurt, following my bowl of London Particular (split pea and ham soup).

    Afternoon all,
I'm very sorry to hear that news @Busy-Lizzie, what a disappointment for you both. It's not the first time I've heard of that reason either. You'd have thought they could have arranged the cardiac tests beforehand. I was tested very thoroughly and in good time before my op a couple of years ago.
Fingers crossed they can re-arrange very soon.
I love goosegogs as well, Dove, and mine I think are nearly ready to pick although it's very difficult to tell.
We had torrential rain overnight and I'd left several pots sitting in their saucers - oops. We really needed a good downpour so that's all the water butts full up again and the veg have had a good soak.
I had to go into town this morning to return the trousers to M&S as I couldn't print out a returns label. Ended up buying two linen floaty tops but will have to shorten the sleeves on both which is a pain as they are gathered around the wrist.
Don't over do it @Biglad while you're home alone!
Good luck with the judging DD.
