@cooldoc ..thanks, no worries.. all these big Austins are water guzzlers until year 3.. they need the rootstock to have gone through a couple of winters before it's able to supply their needs.. hence, shrivelled up blooms and floppy growth.. until then, they're really quite high maintenance roses..
oh you have a great selection too, especially love Lyda Rose.. always wanted that one..
'Vanessa Bell'... centre of the Rose Island Bed.. 'Cornelia'.. on the Divide Rail.. ..cascade of roses on The Enclosure.. 'Scented Garden'.. and the Pebble Beach.. Dry River Bed.. 'Mrs. Paul' a Bourbon rose on the left.. 'Desdemona' in full flow.. this rose will crisp and shrivel if temps reach mid 90's..
'England's Rose'.. struggling in the Dry Garden border.. 'Forever Royal'.. 'Eustacia Vye'... 'Bathsheba'... waiting for thunderstorms.. she won't look quite so good then.. 'Scepter'd Isle'.. 'Botzaris'...
'Wild Blue Yonder'... 'The Country Parson'... 'Armada' / C. 'Niobe'... Alonsoa 'Salmon Beauty'... Geranium riversleianum 'Jean Armour'... Geranium 'Johnson's Blue'..
'Ghislaine de Feligonde'... C. 'Burma Star'... 'Sally Holmes'... seedling Hypericums are useful for neglected shady corners.. ..the expected rain hasn't arrived yet.. so much of this will get clobbered..
Dreamy place to sit that you have created there @Marlorena, do you get much chance to enjoy it? At the moment I can't settle, I keep seeing something that needs attention or needs sniffing. It is all coming on so fast right now. I have to say I'm finding the amount of petal fall and deadheading astonishing. Only 5 minutes ago we were all so impatient.
@Fire ..yes, sort of in part. I no longer grow fruit and veg, so maybe not strictly to the theme.. to me it's a rose garden because they're so dominant..
@Tack yes, I do use my seating areas quite a bit, at least long enough to drink a cup of tea.. but it isn't long before I notice something.. You have a large garden though, you need time to enjoy that, and just stare at all those lovely potted roses..
