Hello everyone. I have had a busy day again. Its been so nice being able to get outside too. I have planted out my Aramis daisies, earthed up my potatoes that were just showing through and hung up my new fly screening curtain on my stable door. I had to get a new one at the back end of last year because the one I'd had for several years was slowly disintegrating. It wasn't an easy job beause I had to cut it first (must leave room for the cat flap!) and then clip the 4 sections in place. I wasn't strong enough - curses and profane words were flying around freely - so I resorted to the lump hammer I had in the garage and using a rubber kneeler to soften the blows I finally got the two pieces to clip together. Curtain is now in place to keep out pesky flies.
I was just enjoying a brew when I had a phone call from my next door neighbour to ask if I could receive a food delivery for her as she wouldn't get home from work in time. Not a problem, though I did have to rearrange my fridge to accommodate the half a cow they had in the order.  All the other items were ok to just sit in the living room until she got home. She arrived about 10 minutes later when the great handover occurred.
Ruby, what a shame you cannot use the tickets. Ripon would be a 2 hour drive each way for me otherwise I would have loved the tickets.
T'Bird, I need to treat my drive - which was completely clear of weeds a month ago. It can be very disheartening when they appear tenfold. It was a little too breezy here to use my sprayer but its on the list.
Chive - sorry to hear about your OH being stuck on the M25. I reckon Chris Rea's song about the M4 could equally apply to the M25. I've been on that road and it is a nightmare. Hope he is well clear of it now.
Sorry I've rambled on a bit. You can wake up at the back now!

p.s. SGL, I meant to answer your question about the programme that had replaced The Pact and I'm not too sure. There seemed to be a lot of Call The Midwife. Someone else might know. I am looking forward to the final episode tonight.

  • Chive I hope your oh will soon be on the move, thank goodness for air con.  Hazel my mint is spreading out I might have to cut it back.  LB well done fitting the fly screening curtain, glad you had a kneeler for comfort.  Lucky for your neighbour you were there.   I was listening to a good play on Radio 4 after pottering.

Hazel, I would like one on my GH as I get really stressed when bees fly in and get trapped. Luckily I have a battery operated pooter which I use every time to catch them and let them go outside again.

Got a tad hot and bothered today - temp topped out at 27C which is too warm for me but I was determined to get some jobs done. More of the same tomorrow.

Rubee - that's a kind offer with the tickets - wish I could take advantage of them but I can't make it work. Thank you anyway.

LB - I did get the drive done. The weeds really have gone mad this last 2 weeks. I usually try to keep on top of it all without chemicals but there are just too many this year.

Chive - well done for getting Big Lad's Winkleman reference - I was racking my brain....
