    Its not just a word but a practice that when the papers say "Today the Pm will tell the TUC that etc "

    What happens if he gets ill and doesn't make it to the meeting.

    The papers dont print an article next day saying "You know we told you that the PM was etc well he didn't as he was off sick today"

    The TV stations do the same.

    This is blatant smelly lies !!
    Everyone is just trying to be Happy.....So lets help Them.

    @Deepdale I've not yet heard of Move the needle - intriguing - is that used to describe corporate execs. sewing whilst attending meetings ??  :D

    Moving the needle scratches the record. Perhaps that's what they want to do.

    Never thought of that.  "delete" would surely be easier ?  Perhaps not fashionable (annoying ) enough tho ? :D
