I heard folk say " we summit-ed" , when the get to the top of a mountain" .
Indian Airlines used to talk about " deplaning " when I'm sure they meant disembarking.

  • What infuriates me is the constant misuse of the word 'like', in every sentence. I want to say, 'no, it is not like, it IS what you are referring to.  Listening to radio or TV, I have to switch off, when the speaker repeatedly throws 'like' into every conversation.

Did anyone count how many times the word "Amazing" was used on the programme about the new RHS garden last night?

It's also amazing that folk have never noticed this amazing phenomena.

On Springwatch a couple of years back Chris said " Amazing film of an amazing animal " ( pine marten ) and his co presenter said " Amazing, just an amazing , amazing animal"
5 times in about 20 seconds.
Zoe Ball and Jamie Oliver also use the word and amazing number of times.
    Devon.

I like Chris but just this morning his constant referral to Bat Poo drove me to switch stations - Poo is a childish term for excrement or faeces - easier for children to say but the constant use of this term by anyone over the age of 10 - medical professionals included - drives me round the bend.
My worst scenario would probably be ...." OMG, what amazing poo "

Poo seems to be the accepted term for faeces these days. The NHS website seems to use the term almost exclusively. Didn’t see them referred to as amazing though.

They have to use words like that, the average reading age in U.K. is 9!
    Everything is written simply now.

    'Batshit crazy. '
This might have been a limiting factor in the discussion.
