It is the time of one and a half minutes. Therefore I would write one and a half minutes’ time, agreeing with Jenny J.

  • It's not very long since I decried, on this thread, the use of "uptick" to mean "increase".  I now hear it everywhere, including on R4 news programmes.  Too many broadcasters feel the need to jump on the latest bandwagon...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

I agree too but I'd still side step😊

@Liriodendron, I’d go so far as to say there has been a doubling down of upticks.

    Is there a top 10?

Does anyone rate them by helpfulness?
    No?..😒

But where do you fancy putting the apostrophe if it’s one and a half minutes?

I'd say in a minute-and-a-half, or ninety seconds.

    Failing that, "shortly".

I can't get my head around 'bring' and 'take' (with)  so I avoid them whenever I'm in doubt.

Really, @B3? I thought native speakers were genetically wired to understand the difference, and non native speakers never grasp it. For my sins I have tried - and failed - to explain the difference to Italians. Similarly, despite their efforts, I cannot comprehend when il tavolo (table, masculine) changes to la tavola (table, feminine).

    Are you there, @coccinella?

I'm second generation Irish. That's probably the issue. I also pronounce the h in why what where etc.
I understand it, sort of, when I look it up but it sticks like warm goose fat on a Teflon coated pole in a south facing garden at midday in a heatwave in midsummer.😟
