    @newbie77 all those cuttings in bloom? 1st year? impressive... I too have Rachel.. been in bud for ages..
    @Marlorena its a variety called 'Top to Bottom' very strongly scented though.. a bit too strong I feel, like the daffodils I had..
    Those arent cuttings I took. None of my cuttings survived. Those are result of buy loads from TCL before brexit. I just call it cutting garden because I bought those to get cut flowers for indoors. I can now have rose bouquet for my desk, DH's desk, kitchen and living room :D

    @Tack, so much to look forward to. I can imagine how lovely it would be in your garden and patio. Everything is so beautiful, fresh and fragrant. My DH also likes orange roses, his favourite is Super Trouper.

    @JessicaS, angel eyes has got perfect name and red big rose is beautiful

    @newbie77 @Bright star

    Thanks, Malvern Hills is doing really well, I'm glad it's what I went with for that spot. Perfect for that awkward corner with all the twists and turns it's had to make.

    I'm also waiting for Royal Jubilee, it's been opening for what seems like forever! But it is a spectacular looking thing in its third year, covered in buds. Looking forward to taking some full flush shots.

    @Fire That Dr Jamain is gorgeous. Im eying it for the fence next year after seeing it on here.

    @newbie77 lovely pot selection! I'm going to order a few of those pots for roses I think, yours certainly look content. @Mr. Vine Eye kindly 'road tested' them too ;)

    To be frank, I would probably recommend going for an easier, healthier rose. @JessicaS

    @JessicaS I like your Angel Eyes a lot, not one of the 'Eyes' that I've seen but very nice colour combination and shape.
    I'm waiting with baited breath for @Mr. Vine Eye to show lots of Malvern Hills pics, I have been very influenced by his lovely rose rather than sales sites to pick a yellow for my very centre-stage obelisk.
    I hope @Nollie is having a nice break; sun and seafood sounds lovely. Deserved after keeping us going with his lovely roses during the lean weeks.

    Love these 'Rose of the Day' offerings.  That Utopia looks rather special @Tack and I like that bright pink button eye in the front corner of @newbie77 cutting balcony.

    I really like the mixed colours produced on Dr Jamain, think it is very pleasing.  I was hoping to get a similar effect from a new bareroot HP Alfred Colomb, but I bought it based on a photo online so who knows :)

    How old is your Poet's Wife please @cooldoc?  It seems to have an amazing amount of buds!

    I have a couple of pipsqueaky blooms but nothing I would compare with the wonderful specimens posted here as yet.  Maybe another week or so for me.

    @Fire Oh no is it a pain?  Not good! I fancy a big dark red climber if anyone has any recommendations.

    @Tack I haven't seen it available much, seems less common - Ive had it about 4 years.  It has lovely darker pink tinges at the edges of the petals when it first opens, I'll try and get some more pics once a few more are open on it.  It changes colour as it ages like all the eyes ones, really lovely.

    There are much healthier modern roses. The advantage of Jamain is that it's ok with some shade. Mine gets bad BS and needs lots of tlc. There is great variance of colour which is a bit odd and feels unreliable.  Blooms go from dark red to bright, shocking pink on one plant at the same time. This doesn't seem to be to do with sun exposure or even age of the bloom. If I chose again today, I would put in a cream/yellow Malvern Hills as a fence coverer.

    Etoile de Hollande is a dark red climber but has a wide spread - up to 6m. Bees like it. The blooms can have weak necks and hang. I also grow Ena Harkness, which has a similar knock out scent in the first days of opening and similarly weak necks.  I also grow Crimson Glory and Guinee.

    Most of these are quite new in for me, so I can't speak with much experience of them. I'm growing Etoile , CG and Guinee on arches and they seem quite happy with that.

    In terms of dark red shrub roses I have Barkarole which is very dark and the blooms last for ages, a classic long-stemmed, valentine style rose. Also Papa Meilland  and Deep Secret, new in, so I can't speak for those.

    ... enjoying all the photos everyone..

    ..that 'Eglantyne' is just so nice..

    @JessicaS
    ..sorry I don't know your rose from that.. to have half a chance we need a mature bush shot, with lots of blooms.. but there are really too many reds and often of obscure origins/provenance.. and it's not one I recognise personally..
