I recently put in rosa Creme De La Creme to match a small inherited cream climber on a fence. Both are now in flower and match really well. I'm not sure I will be able to spot the difference, once the new rose is mature. Together, they should happliy cover part of the west fence, and I'm pleased.
The new plant is tiny, probably about a foot tall, and covered in buds. I'm never sure if that is a good thing at this early point...
@Fire not to be a bad influence but Styles have Highgrove in stock covered in buds...
That buttercups a very striking yellow @Omori and scent sound amazing, look forward to how it opens out.
@Victoria Sponge gardens looking gorgeous! I love your colour choices.
@Rickyjones24 that Eustacia Vye is gorgeous! Even if the name makes me twitch at the memory of A-levels studying that infernal book
I can see Copper lights, Lady Marmalade and Westerland buds colouring now... now I wonder will they flower before I hand the garden over to a friend for a week whilst I go on holiday or will they wait till Ive gone!
Edit; just catching up on tonights GW on iplayer and oh look which rose frostys got opening scene!
@Fire Good idea. Im hoping as the weathers set to be wet I can get mine in this weekend, I dont really want to leave it in its little nursery pot too much longer its huge.
Bare root pre orders are open at David Austin! I am going to order Lady Hamilton and Munstead Wood, are there any other roses likely to sell out fast? This is my first year growing roses, so if there are any must have ones please make suggestions. Thanks! (Already have Alnick, Boscobel, Roald Dahl, Olivia, young Lycidas,PAoK and Lady of Shallot.)
@Fire - that's what Malvern Hills looks like if you leave it untouched. I started deadheading today though. Managed to get half way through one side before the heavens opened!
Revealed some new growth ready to stretch across the rest of the wall
At last! Lady Emma Hamilton has decided to grace us with her presence. The perfume is strong even though she’s not fully open. I think the dark colour of Penstemon Plum Jerkum is going to be a good contrast for the rose.
Life's tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.
