Yeyyy! Pre-ordering! I haven't done any yet but I did make a little chart of my first and second choices if Lens will not ship to UK. I either need to make 4 or 6 different orders as nothing is available everywhere
Rose of the Day, Golden Gate. Not yet back to its former glory after I chopped it back two years ago and then snapped off some stiff canes by accident. I love the yellows and the wafty scent.
Leah Tutu, bud is very red and orange for a supposedly dark yellow rose. I'm awaiting this with interest.
Also no preordering for me. I want to replace some roses in the ground but that will be done with roses currently in pots. I will have some space in pots, so I am not saying I won't order anything but probably not anything major. I would love more old roses and more climbers/ramblers... not happening.
This one has to go... 'Vick's Caprice', a subtly striped hybrid perpetual. Interesting rose but I can't keep something that keeps looking like this.
Tuincentrumlottum (TCL) Dutch rose nursery IS still shipping to the UK, except they are not allowed to send any David Austin roses, which is a shame as that cuts off the supply of old Austins. That seems to be the case with all EU rose suppliers at the insistence of DA themselves. They also now carry a small selection of Lens roses, if Lens themselves won’t ship (in ‘New Roses’ section). Shipping costs are now €27,50 for up to 25 roses, so only worth it if you are ordering a fair number.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
I will pre-order Flanders Field, MW and another Malvern to plant in the autumn. More bushes are coming out to accomodate them. Any discount codes are appreciated.
I’ve been trialling my various roses to see which work best as cut flowers. This Jamain lasted eight good days in a vase, which is longer than it would last on the plant. And it holds its scent.
