@ Rickyjones24 I don’t know about Claire Austin, but a friend of mine has the Pierre Arditi, a beautiful and fragrant white rose shrub. Somebody says it’s the best white rose shrub to be had in the garden.
Arghhh! Help! I have rose rust and powdery mildew on a couple of roses. I have defoliated the plant with rust and the ones with mildew, I have sprayed with SB invigorator (as that is all I have at the moment). Will that be go enough? Should I use Rose clear? I'm terrified that it will sprea to my other roses. Thanks for any suggestions.
Geranium Elsworthy Eyecatcher has done quite well in its first year. Pretty flowers, similar shade to G Patricia but smaller plant.
Potted Desdemona - bonking her head on the hanging basket! Lots of blooms in the second flush, I took several finished ones off before taking the photo.
We're going away again tomorrow, will hopefully be visiting the DA gardens at some point in the next week so I'll try and get lots of photos.
Can anyone advise me re my DA Alnwick rose please? It's had a bad attack of rose slug worm, having aleady suffered bad black spot this year. The leaves are decimated- nearly all skeletal, apart from a couple of seemingly unaffected stems which are blooming beautifully! Should I prune it all back hard now, and leave the couple of flowering stems or what?
Careful at the DA @Mr. Vine Eye I have just seen on fb an ad for Nye Bevan , boasting it's for charity at £30.50 (planted) At that price it's a donation from the buyer, not a gift from the seller. 🙄
@supergardener .. well I wouldn't cut it back now, if you've defoliated the stems.. it should shoot out again very soon, and produce blooms in September.. it's a particularly long flowering Austin, and will still be flowering when others have finished.. so give it chance to recover..
@TracyP I don't spray, but sometimes a bucket of water over the roots can alleviate mildew, although some roses are prone to it... I have one covered in it, but it's not spread to anything else... SB is also for mildew, so if you've used then it should be enough.. I also find that at this time of year, it's not worth worrying about it too much with Autumn around the corner.. perhaps next year start earlier and use through the season?..
I think TCL sent me something else instead of royal jubilee. It has thrown a long cane and flopped over other plants. Flower has more pettles and colour also looks different.
They do it sometimes. One jubilee celebration also turned out to be golden celebration.

Munstead Wood, the foliage is a little tired now, but still blooming:
Love Song has the largest blooms in the garden at present. Ebb Tide in the background:
