Evening all. Been out in the garden most of the day doing some more planting, sowing outdoor seeds & cutting the grass.

Despite the forecast saying 70% chance of rain we've had about 10 drops but it is very windy - drying everything out. Really hope we do get some of the promised rain tonight - fed up with watering already - especially when it's cold.

Did you have a nice chat with your bike Hazel? If it joined in the conversation you should probably tell your GP...๐Ÿคช

Glad you checked your appt SGL - mine's on Thurs & hoping OH will get a text about his tomorrow. We're away again in 10 days time which is exactly 12 weeks after our first jabs. It will be good to get both the 2nd ones done this week so we have a few days before driving - just in case one of us feels a bit off afterwards.

2 half decent films on tonight - "Sully" (which is a little close to home bearing in mind OH was an airline pilot but worth another watch) and "Tulip Fever" which might / might not be interesting.ย

T'Bird, I recommended Sully to handy brother. I've seen it and thought it was brilliant. I'll be going into quiz withdrawal tonight!
It has actually stopped raining here now and the sun has come out. Its not fooling me though - its very cold.
p.s. where are you toddling off to next T'Bird?

LB I have 7 roses temporally planted in the old veg garden. I ordered them bareroot from a French plant company because they were on a cheap offer, end of season. Didn't know where to plant them, I'd planted other roses in the other beds. 6 are ground cover roses, Amica and Aspirin, I'd never heard of them, and the other one is DA's Darcey Bussell which will go in the centre. There will be room for perennials too.

I found a great plant nursery before the French lockdown, only about 12 minutes drive away. Now we are allowed out further than 10kms I think I'll pay them another visit tomorrow. Weather forecast isn't good.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

BL, that sounds to me like an excellent plan. Your weather sounds a little like what some of us have been subjected to today

@Ladybird4 - we're off to Northumberland next - up near to Alnwick. Love the gardens at Alnwick Castle and rummaging around Barter's Books and crab stotties at The Ship at Low Newton - so that'll keep us busy for a week.....

@Busy-Lizzie - your rose garden plans sound good. Thinking about Darcy Bussell for my garden (having seen it at David Austin's) - have you grown it before? Is it a good doer without a team of rose specialists to look after it?

T'Bird, you are going up to my neck of the woods there. They have a marvellous poison garden at Alnwick. Filmed some of Harry Potter there too. You'll have to have some Newcastle Broon whilst you are visiting.

The knitted figures is a WhatsApp pic I got sent, I wonder if you googled @Ladybird4 you could find the pattern.

Has everyone seen the last episode of LOD yet?ย
It's been hammering it down for a few hours now, had hailstones too earlier.
You've been very busy @Busy-Lizzie what roses are you getting. I've been looking on the David Austen site today, one I shall be ordering is Eustacia Vye still thinking about the others.

    Night night everyone sleep wellย

The tree house, sculptures and water features at Alnwick are all incredible and the poison garden is great fun. Went there about 5 years ago but at a different time of year - looking forward to going again. Would like to look round the castle too - that might be possible in the last 2 days of our holiday. Hope so.

Hazel - the nice men in white coats are on their way. Nothing to worry about - they're just going to take you for a nice little ride out...

The pots weren't in one of the council bins so I think they were just being stored. They were nice pots in good condition. Until the OH shouted out of the window which house she thought they were from, I was planning to bring them back to ours for 'safe keeping' ;)ย

Hammered it down pretty much all afternoon here. The 'pond' has formed next to the shed and we have a small leak coming through the bathroom ceiling. Happy days!
