  • I’ve been pottering and reading and enjoying a small Baileys after tidying up after Alfie who is lounging on the bed.  Hazel I’m glad to hear oh is improving.  The cycling will keep you both fit.   It’s pouring it down outside.  I’m glad to be dry and home after my visit.

OH just informed me that there was a dustbin that had blown over down the road, spilling dozens of plant pots all over the place. She'd witnessed a neighbour ignoring the mess and, obviously, couldn't go out herself :o

She very kindly supervised operations from an upstairs window whilst eldest and I ran hither and thither collecting the runaway pots! Think we got them all and knocked on the house that OH guessed they'd come from. She's not right very often, but the bin full of plant pots was gratefully received. Hope they've weighed them down with something because it's blowing a hoolie out there ;)

I'm glad OH is feeling better, Hazel.

I've been making the new rose bed, hard going, impacted soil, been grass for years, but I did find a child's garden fork buried in it.

Hello everyone. Well it has persisted down all day today and the wind is blowing a hoolie. I went out a moment ago to put some rubbish in the bin and nearly got blown off my feet. I planted up my 'over the gate' planter but need to get it cleaned once the rain has stopped.
I decided to leave the plants in the GH until it is less windy, as its cold as well.

Biglad, were the pots being stored in the dustbin? Sadly the council here does not allow us to put plant pots put into the recycle bin. Shame as I have 3 bags full.
Hazel I'm so glad that you managed to telephone the bike Did a spokesperson answer? I admire anyone who can ride a bike. I used to be able to but not any more. Its too scary on the roads these days. Your cycle path sounds ideal. Well done to your OH for getting the grass cut.
BL, you will need to pace yourself with that monster bed. I wonder how long that little fork has been there. Are you going to grow a mix of roses or will you just keep to one type?
SGL, I am so glad that you checked your message - you might have been waiting a long time!

Hi all just been out to check all is safely put away as the wind is rising out there. Torrential rain which is good to see the gardens really need it. I have trays and pots spread around to catch the precious rain water. I really should invest in a proper water butt! Our water is hard and I struggle with my rhododendrons. Hope everyone is safe and dry.

Hazel, I don't know why I looked,  I'd  written the time in my diary. I was was convinced it was tomorrow 🤷‍♀️
It's turned very cold here now and it's very windy. Not rained yet, but the sky is very dark.
