My annoyance of the day is quite inconsequential compared to that. I've lost my favourite sun hat, an OR folding sun hat that only just fits but looks a bit stretched. My other hats look bad. I'm not an easy hat person. Glasses and big head they simply don't suit or fit me. So I'm stuck with floppy Tilley hat that shrinks because it's cotton. Started off nice and loose to allow airflow, now it's practically constricting my head.

I don't like brimmed hats but it's so hard to find caps I like that fit over 61cm circumference heads. They stop at 60 possible 61. Even then they're actually too tight to be comfortable. We're coming up to summer and I need a hat for outdoors from gardening to hiking and even cycling. The annoying thing is my head doesn't look big but 7 5/8 is not small.

So I need a hat to keep sun out of eyes as much as possible but not look old. Sorry, round here the only people wearing brimmed hats like Tilley hats are all 20++ years older than me. My pipe, slippers and Panama hat are at least two decades off.Β  Mean no offence just I'm fussy and awkward. I can't be the only one struggling with hats due to size and lack of choice!!!

Did it blow away or is it in the house somewhere.?I have a problem getting a hat to fit me too. I have a big head to accommodate my intellect .

It's in the house somewhere. Moved in a month ago and have worn it since moving. TBH it's a little too small. Some days it feels too tight others it's ok but looks tight. Trouble is caps only come in bigger sizes if b they look like those big dome baseball caps with flat brim. Ugly IMHO. I like the neater streamlined outdoor/hiking/running caps but they stop a little smaller. I do have a huge Rohan cap with fold away neck gaiter and a fold away face, midge net. When folded away it's loose on my head without adjustment but still looks tight over the head weirdly. Also the fold away bits are a little lumpy. If they did one without the fold away bits and replace it with a means to adjust the size.

What do you wear it you don't mind me asking, with your big head? I'd like to say my big head is intellect but I suspect it's inflated with something other than brain!!

I have a large head too and most hats don't fit. I think I have a particularly thick skull rather than an excess of intellect. My gardening hat of choice is one of these that I picked up second hand a few years ago https://www.amazon.co.uk/Quiksilver-Bushmaster-Bucket-Hat-Brown/dp/B07M6ZX84T/ref=pd_aw_fbt_img_1?pd_rd_w=Xlurd&pf_rd_p=812400bc-cca5-4f20-8dc0-ac8efa523c40&pf_rd_r=Y6B2FZ56BVH039GGMNPG&pd_rd_r=e1f79175-c122-42f1-b589-b4014fcd3c4a&pd_rd_wg=16OY4&pd_rd_i=B07M6ZX84T&psc=1

I managed a leisurely stroll around two garden centres today thanks to some last minute changes in plans. As a bonus too I found some hylotelephium plants uprooted and abandoned on my last job and managed to salvage a few bits. Probably just more Autumn Joy but you never know.Β
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I just kept on trying straw hats until I found one that fitted.
M&S were doing a few hats in SML. I boughtΒ  large and threw away all the fancy bits. I need it when I'm doingΒ  pruning or something on the west facing side of the garden as IΒ  can't see a thing if the sun is shining in my eyes.
I suppose a Donald Trump peaked job would be better but I can't bring myself to do it. Tried one of those crownless adjustable jobs. I looked like I had a cordyline poking out of the top of my head.

My gardening has ground to a halt. The weather is too cold or unpredictable to put rooted cuttingsΒ  out, no space for more seedlings until I can get the protected plants out. containers emptied and ready.
Β I wander around aimlessly pulling out the odd weed and unnecessarily snipping the odd twig. And waiting.

@B3, feel free to pop round here and aimlessly snip twigs. I am so far behind that I'm actually quite glad it's all being held up by the frost. If we get some rain, it'll be a jungle overnight.
On the upside, my Thalias are pretty much all flowering now and they are all Thalia. Peter NyssenΒ  :)

I did get a few Thalias in the end. The notsΒ  seem to have very long - lived blooms and some aren't that bad now thatΒ  I've got over my misidentification snit. Some are just plain ugly, though.
Fortunately, each packet was planted in separate clumps so I can definitely leave the real ones to spread - hopefully.

Can't get anywhere that sells hats. I'm not allowed to drive until I can move my recently broken arm without pain to change gears. My partner doesn't want to drive anywhere that might sell hats public transport isn't the greatest when you move somewhere nice and rural.

Internet is a real pain. Hate Internet shopping. Pages and pages of scrolling because you can't find the filter terms you need. Something like a filter for big hats that aren't at their highest possible level of adjustment or are actually an honest 7 5/8 or one size up.

Anyway enough of that.Β  I'm off to do a sneaky gardening before heading down the road to the sailing club boat yard for a walk around for new members. A decent sized garden and a nearby sailing club. Plenty of nice walking and cycling. I've moved to a great place to live. Just wish I was able to really get stuck in to the heavy work. There's a stump I want out and we can't get a tree surgeon to come even though there's more work than stump grinding. It's calling me to attack it with mattock, wrecking bar,Β  spade,Β  trowel,Β  hatchet,Β  folding saw, brute strength and ignorance. I've got all of that but not with a dodgy arm!Β

Stick a pot of something trailing on top of it and forget about it for this year. You'll find much more rewarding tasks than fighting a stump😊
