They certainly do @Chivetalking and you always find an out of date item too 🤦♀️🤷♀️ but very satisfying when done. Lovely night pic and words @Ladybird4 Love the new avatar @Songbird-1 beautiful delphinium. Night night everyone, hope we all get a good night's sleep
Good morning all, work all day today, don’t mind it too much as the pharmacist on Saturday is a lovely man. Just makes for a funny weekend. Sunny here but very cold still.
LB I have thought of dahlia seeds for my cutting bed at the allotment but because I have limited space for seedlings this year I am trying to stick to seeds to grow in situ as much as possible. Would be interested to hear how you get on.
Big lad I have a new rhubarb to go in, the last one I planted just disappeared. Any advice?
Good morning Biglad and Debs. Biglad, I think that today could be a good one for getting the painting done. Debs, I'll let you know how the dahlia growing goes.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
@debs64 I'm certainly no expert, but I've had one rhubarb plant for years in one corner of the garden. Never been touched by anything (ie no disappearing). I split it into 6 at the end of last year and currently have them in 4 locations. The ones I put into my new 'fruit border' (other side of the garden from the original plant) have both been vandalised with one of them completely disappearing like yours. A couple of the strawberry plants in that border have gone as well.
The one I've temporarily stored in a planter against the house wall is untouched. As are the two chucked into the old council recycling tub that I grew spuds in last year.
Based on that, it's all about trying different locations within your garden to see what works. I know the 'fruit border' is on the normal patrol path of a number of our unwelcome cat visitors and quite close to the rodent-sized hole I found in the back fence a couple of weeks ago. I'm going to get some protective netting for that area, especially whilst the strawbs and rhubarb are small, juicy plants.
The 3 in the planter and tub are going in my newly shaded bed today so we'll see if any critters visit that part of the garden!

Looks a bit murky out there but DRY
Bit of shed (x2) painting that could do with getting finished. Veg bed to weed and rhubarb to shift make 3 jobs to do for the day.
