..yes poor Doggie, do hope she's ok.. I expect she felt awful guilty spoiling the rugs...just unfortunate, we've had similar happen here with ours in the past.. ...hope your get your hot water back soon... everything goes wrong in 3's doesn't it, one after the other..
.. nice to see different aspects of your garden, I don't think I've seen those before..
What a horrible start to the day @Nollie! I hope your poor doggie makes a speedy recovery. Wisteria looks gorgeous and good to see the blossom on your Evereste crabapple, I planted one last year and it’s leafing up beautifully, I hope the blossom is as lovely as yours.💐
Life's tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.
Thanks everyone, yes poor girl, she has been through the wringer so we keep a close eye on her. She nearly died of acute kidney failure on the day we moved into this house 5 years ago but made a remarkable recovery. She lost an eye to glaucoma and the other one is a bit dodgy but it doesn’t bother her. She has hip displasia so her back legs are going, but loves to swim so has regular hydrotherapy in the pool. We keep thinking she is not long for this world, but she is extremely determined to live!
That’s my driveway with the tunnel of trees and malus @Marlorena. Will post some pics of the lesser known parts of the garden soon, waiting on the gasman, says he will be here within an hour 🤞
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Poor Old Girl @Nollie. The worry about old pets actually puts me off having any. I hope she has a comfortable period ahead (and for your sakes). I love your warm-coloured stone wall, it shows off your plants so beautifully. My dream would be a walled garden, either weathered brick or honey coloured stone. Hope the gasman cometh.
I haven't been much interested to date in colour matching, but I have just underplanted Dr Jamain with hellebore Anna's Red and heuchera Chocolate Ruffles and I'm just loving it. Both are an exact match of colour and echo. I have planted patches of these up the garden so the eye should ping pong around. I should get colour pick ups from early red rose climbers like Etoile, which is climbing on an arch over some Anna's Red.
Anna's Red is an extraordinary plant - holding its colour so well; So very prolific and floriferous. A kind of odd growing habit on mine currently, like its being held by a tight hand at the base, but so full of elan. The bumbles feed on it from January to May/June. Needless to say, it is pink and nothing to do with red. But 'red' in plant names seems to rarely have anything to do with actual reds. Now I have got my head around that oddity, I don't mind, and I check carefully what the plant actually does - not to be mislead by odd labelling or nursery delusions.
My planting is getting denser and denser - rather scary, in case
something I love bites the dust. It feels that denser planting is going
to be more demanding of attention, watering and feeding. But the rewards
are great.
This is my Gallica 'Tuscany Superb'...way way behind the rest, and my other gallica 'Charles de Mills' is even further behind. Is that normal or do they need a bit of extra feed.
@Fire love that hellebore. I'd like some hellebores. There were some really nice looking ones in Adam Frosts garden in last week's Gardeners World. I've seen quite a lot of beige or off white ones but I'd like something with a stronger colour.
Oh man, just popped onto SGC to see what hellbores they have. It opened up automatically on my search page for geraniums because I was checking that regularly. Seen that Russel Prichard is out of stock again. I hope that's because I got the last one.
I'd be so disappointed if it got dropped off the order again!!!!
