Well, in the meantime I’ve picked up past releases that I never bought for whatever reason...Lady of Shalott and Emily Brontë. Not interested in Nye Bevan at present, although I will be interested in everyone’s opinion who has or will be buying it.
Ps @Perki I removed all lawn from the back garden and don’t regret it. Although I like the look of grass, I am happy to be able to have more room for roses etc. I’m in the process of doing the same to the front garden, but I have to leave some grass as my partner prefers it. Problem is I hate edging, so it’s going to be quite informal 😜
@JessicaS your garden is looking extremely smart, what a lot of work you have put in there! I would give your two NZ roses a bit more time, some are much slower out the traps than others. Although slightly confused by the ‘bare root potted’ bit - are they potted roses that have just been pruned at end of season to send out to you? If the roots are filling the pot - have a look and see if there are any poking out the bottom of the pots - you could pot them on one size up until they are ready for their permanent home.
Stormy Weather is coming on, well, a storm! This rose is not particularly thorny, but has developed tonnes of small prickles all over the canes, which are more painful if they get you than the thorns. Rather like the sharp nip of a Yorkshire Terrier, which hurts far more than the chomp of a Labrador!
But worth a bit of a nip for it’s non-stop blooming all season long - looking forward to seeing these lovely clusters again:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Thanks, my favourite new rose from last year @Fire and @poppyfield64, yes just the one, it’s very healthy and vigorous. A climber but fairly stiff-canes, so more leaning against the fence. Someone on hmf grows it and whacks it down every year, basically treating it as a shrub.
The Gertrude Jekyll busting out of it’s pot saga and me failing to do anything about it continues. I cut about half the canes in the middle right down to soil level last year to open up the thicket, but it’s not playing ball, they are all sprouting again. MUST, MUST attempt to extract it and get it in the ground somewhere this coming winter!

I got a late Christmas present from a child in my class. It's been sat in his bag for months during Lockdown and just discovered it on their return to the classroom yesterday.
Garden centre voucher! Went to have a look at roses and saw they had Ab Fab and Ebb Tide.
Not much choice of perennials at that particular one unfortunately. Only one variety of geranium!! Will have another look in a few weeks maybe.
Perfect gift for you @Mr. Vine Eye. Did you get the rose to plant near Vanessa bell? Ebb Tide could go well with VB. Or you could get some perennial later. You look after perennials very well and they thrive in your garden.
When I went to GC couple of days ago, when I see a perennial, I would sigh, I had it and I lost it to one reason or the other or why mine never looked good like it is in GC/photos. I did feel proud about the shrub purchases, thinking i bought that tiny camellia or acer or nandina and now mine as is big as the £40-£60 specimen there.

@Nollie Your Stormy Weather is a stunner. Is it just the one rose in the first photo/
