@edhelka Ooh ive got those illumination foxgloves this year too - they look gorgeous. I got mine from southeast horticulture online with a load of other perennial plugs, they arrived beautifully packaged and a really good size and condition, not scrawny things at all.
Illumination foxgloves seem stunning - great for a shady spot with six months of flowering. I'll look at getting some. Looking for them to get to a metre to fill a front bed throught the summer. Are there any downsides? Thanks.
Ah here you go everyone - the place I got the illumination ones has them in stock! FYI I ordered this size, so whilst they look expensive they would easily fill a 9cm pot and were really bushy. You searched for illumination - South Eastern Horticultural
Thanks for the suggestion @newbie77, I don’t mind zinnias, but could probably pick some or something similar up in the GC later on (I hope). I can’t get seeds going, much. They germinate ok in the house, but deep roof overhangs and window reveals, smallish windows and no window sills mean inside is too dark (so they go leggy and weak) and nighttime temperature drops are severe at my altitude so my poly is too cold (they keel over). Hence I prefer to buy 9cm pots then grow them on, far better success rate!
I do have a tray of tithonia seedlings on the go on the end of my kitchen table - I am running in and out with them like a yo yo, but it’s still chilly out there and they are already a bit leggy. I think I sowed too early, given the weather this year.
Edited to add my favourite tithonia photo from a couple of years ago, with Swallowtail:

I love Tithonia, such striking plants and they do well here. This year for the first time I've grown them from seed, but I'm now on the 3rd and final lot with only one survivor to date. Very tricky, they like warmth and moisture, but not too hot and not too wet, like you @Nollie I'm forever moving them around. I'm very determined though.....we'll see. 😅

@JessicaS That's a funny coincidence. I found them two days ago on eBay, plan to buy my annual plugs from them. I haven't noticed they have Illumination foxgloves! It also looks like they have a slightly bigger choice of plants on their website than on eBay.
