Oh dear @Lizzie27, I hope your back feels better tomorrow.

I've been gardening, sorted the bed in front of the terrace.

I've also planted up 2 pots by the kitchen door with chives and parsley.

Hope all those with sore backs, sore arms, aching muscles and other ailments have a comfortable evening.

I'm just back from the vet's where Bonzo had X-rays to check his new knee hadn't been wrenched and displaced but it's OK.  However lots of new arthritic bits on both halves of the joint and she thinks he must have strained it all too so anti-inflammatories and complete rest for a week then see how he goes.   Fingers crossed.   I know just how he feels cos I did a dafty with my knee this morning and a back in the supporting brace.

Fish pie for us for dinner with salmon, cod, ling and sweet potato mash.   Possum will be thrilled, no doubt, but we like it.  don't do kedgeree cos I can't get undyed smoked haddock @Dovefromabove.  Enjoy.

Set to be spring-like tomorrow and OH is off to play golf with some pals before a meeting at the clubhouse.  I have booked Possum for manoeuvres in the garden shed and barn.  No actual gardening for her but shifting and organising is OK, under sufferance.

  • Oh dear, poor Bonzo and poor @Lizzie27.

A steady 20°degrees here today, very nice thank you. 😎
Mushroom stroganoff for us, no meat before weigh in day tomorrow, and I could kill for a glass of sherry, just one of those evenings where it would go down so well. I'm being good though, only on a Saturday for now. 😇

Have a good evening all. Hope aches and pains are better tomorrow.

Evening all, Sorry to hear about your back @Lizzie27 hope it improves soon.
Had a lovely day with the boys.  It might be half term but Secondborn had to go into school to do some work.  Jonah's dad decided to cut his hair.  Secondborn has had a fit, he looks like the sheepdog in the 'should have to Specsavers ad' Luckily she saw it before he started on Gabriel.
Good news on the SIL front he is fine now.  Breathing normally, just gets tired if he does too much.  He's going back to school on Monday.

@Yviestevie glad he's ding better but that plan may not be too clever.  Been seeing lots of reports on long covid and it happens to people who don't rest and plough on regardless - so more women than men but nasty for both.  Try and talk him into another week of rest.

I do OH's beard but wouldn't attempt a hair cut.  I can do a straight cut on Possum when it's long and she needs a simple trim cos she's got thick straight hair like me and I do my fringe but that's all.

@D0rdogne_Damsel where do you find sherry?  I used to use a lot of cheap dry Fino in Belgium for starting onions and so on rather than fat in casseroles and sauces but I have never seen even one bottle of good stuff here.

Thanks for good wishes folks, not feeling too bad now although I suspect painkillers and wine have dulled the pain this evening somewhat. Feel rather like Bonzo I suppose. Think I ought to see the GP perhaps if I can get an appointment. I've been putting it off for 14 years!
    Good news @Yviestevie.

  • I am afraid I got my sherry in Spain @Obelixx, well in the duty free shop when I passed through Spain to get to Croatia, on my last holiday, supplies are getting very low now and I don't think I will be going anywhere soon. :( Good job I am only partaking once a week. ;)

Great that SIL is feeling so much better @Yviestevie .... what a time they have all been through.

Managed to get out before the rain and do a bit of gardening after all - sorted out some trunks of rhododendron ponticum that we felled last year - hopefully that’s the end of the regrowth now.

Still no seeds sown though - one for a rainy Sunday I think.

Finished my latest cross stitch project ....now just need the framers to reopen.  It’s kept me busy every evening since last September.  Very therapeutic 🪡🧵
