    Hello all.
The septic tank is working now. It was inspected before the move and passed as being "aux normes" up to required standard. I think it was that the ground is so saturated its drains and soakaway couldn't work properly. Water level has gone down now, the little river is high but not overflowing. Still far too wet to dig my new beds, lawn is squelchy. The house and garden are quite a bit higher than the river though.

We have electric radiators and a wood burning stove, probably mentioned it before. The stove keeps most of the house warm, haven't needed the radiator in our bedroom.

Lovely photos @rholden_82. I used to live near you, village called Smarden. Loved it there then OH wanted to move to France in 1985. He died in '98 and now my partner officially lives in Norfolk not that far from @Dovefromabove. I love it there, the people are so friendly.

Hope things go as well as can be expected @Allotment Boy Sometimes it feels that things will never get better.

@Yviestevie, I'm sorry to hear that, it's appalling and poor you as well. It must be agonising not to be able to help, why doesn't your OH want you to go if they're now negative. You would be extremely unlikely to catch it. I'm afraid I would go in your circumstances. I've already decided I would go down to nurse my daughter if she caught it and needed me.

Glad the septic tank is behaving itself now @Busy-Lizzie.
    Lovely photos @rholden_82.

We haven't got any snow but it was extremely cold on our usual walk. I went out with 4 layers on including 2 pairs of gloves. Just had a sleety rain shower.
Don't envy you @Hostafan1 with no heating, hopefully you have an alternative source of heating.
At least the moving stuff will keep you warm @DOrdogne_Damsel.

    Sympathies @Allotment Boy

@Lizzie27 We have little electric heaters we can move from room to room , but no hot water until Monday.
A kettle of water in the wash hand basin will have to suffice for a week

  • @Yviestevie, sorry to hear about your SIL, I hadn't read your post, when I last posted.  Our situation is minimal compared to yours.  At least the uncle was 95 & had a good run, far too many young people having problems.  Very recent evidence is showing the vaccine is preventing transmission so things should improve.

@Hostafan1 What are you like?  This happens every year doesn't it?  Maybe time to set a monthly reminder to check oil tank levels or, if you can't check yourself, get a contract for regular top ups?  The company will monitor your consumption and calculate when you need deliveries.  Then you pay a monthly bill like leccy or water.  Simples.

    Still snowing in Ipswich.
Did ironing work today instead of gardening.  Had to top up 3 suet pellet feeders 4 times again as well as the 4 sunflower heart feeders.
This little fella came and watched me iron through the window to keep me company.  Bless him!
@Yviestevie I can't tell you how much I feel for you! I'm sending positive vibes,  prayers and hugs to you all xx
@Hostafan1    I'm like you and forget things in the general hussel and bustle of life but I now put a not at the start of the month in my diary.  Eg. Car insurance runs out at end of month.  That way it doesn't sneak up on me!!
Electric blankets for everyone i say!!!!
