  • Hi all,
    Newbie here
Just wanted to come on and say hi and I hope everyone is keeping well. I'm based down in Kent but it has been very very wet here recently and this weekend we are forecast heavy snow!! Eeek!!

I am looking forward to spring and have already got some seeds on the go so windowsills are getting filled up quickly!!! My autumn bulb planted snowdrops are JUST poking their heads out so the hope is there that warmer days are coming!

Hello @rholden_82.  It's wet here too and our snowdrops are only just thru too - all brought in pots from my last garden and planted out here 3 years ago but last spring I moved some in the green to a new bed so it's a relief to see them all poking thru.

No snow expected but more heavy rain this weekend and temps down to almost freezing.   Winter is starting to feel endless....

  • Hello @rholden_82 and welcome to the forum 😊
My delivery of just a few seed potatoes has arrived
    😊
I’ll start chitting them just as soon as this forecast cold snap is over.

    Hello @Dovefromabove,

This is a bit cheeky as I don't often post on the Forkers thread ....
But I'm looking to buy a few seed potatoes myself and was wondering where you got yours from?
I usually buy from a local nursery, but they are all shut at the moment (Scotland).
I've looked online, and only seem able to find packs with far more than I need.
Hope you don't mind me asking.

  • Hello all again and a special hello to new faces @rholden_82 and @Bee witched. 🙂

I have to come to work and clean the kitchen as the workmen have gone off site and I've a few takeaway meals ordered for tomorrow. Done as much as needed, gosh sawdust gets everywhere, now enjoying a coffee in my favourite spot on the terrace, hallelujah, didn't think I'd ever get outside again there's been so much rain. Bulbs poking through here too.

@Busy-Lizzie your new house is certainly causing some teething problems. It's good of the previous owners to help, hopefully things will be all sorted soon. You should sleep well tonight.

Back home now to organise a light supper, weigh in tomorrow. I wonder how much that tooth weighed? 🤣

Welcome to the forum @rholden_82. I haven't sowed any seeds yet.

What a terrible night you must have had @Busy-Lizzie - yuck! reminds me when I got home from work one night to find my back yard full of sewage. Somebody had put a child's nappy down the loo further up the terrace. Then I found out the previous owner had concreted right over the rodding point. Cost me a fortune to call out Dyno-rod late in the evening. Hope you can solve whatever caused your problem.

@DOrdogne_Damsel Hope your tooth misery doesn't last as long as poor Pat E's has.

You've had a busy day @Dovefromabove, you make me feel quite guilty. I walked down to the shop to get the paper and have done some washing but that's about it. I need to do some H/W before daughter arrives tomorrow to pick up her cat but can do that early am. Her cat seems a lot better but still not 100%, does anyone dose their cat with olive oil and is it safe for them?

Hello Rebecca. I hope you enjoy this forum and that people answer any gardening questions you may have.

My snowdrops that I brought to my new house in a pot are in flower now. I'm wishing I'd dug up more as there aren't any here.

The loos are working fine now. I've washed all round the downstairs loo and sprayed disinfectant everywhere. Previous owner said it has only happened once before in 30 years and it's because of limescale.

The couple who came to help move stuff in the loft have done a great job. It's much clearer now. Some of the books are in the guest room waiting for me to put them in the bookcase.

  • @Busy-Lizzie, sounds horrid hope it's all ok now.
@Bee witched most catalogues list potatoes in 1 or 2 kg amounts 1 kg usually equates to 12-15 tubers, if that is too many is there someone nearby you can share with? Otherwise you may have to chance it & hope the GC's in your area open by late March April  and you can get them then.

Hi @Bee witched 😊 not cheeky at all ... everyone is welcome any old time in Hello Forkers 😎

The seed potatoes are Charlottes from Thompson & Morgan  via Amazon’s website as I had a voucher. There was about a three week wait for delivery but I knew that.
They’ve arrived in good condition ... I’ve included a photo do you can see how many there are in a kilo ... I visualise in Imperial 😒 😂
