Glorious weather today. Shorts and sandals :o for an 8-hour stint in the garden. Old shed painted. New bike shed built and painted. Not much 'proper' gardening done but did get two of the 3 bush stumps dug out.

Should have done a few hours work today but it doesn't look like happening ;)

This is the rose arch I bought @D0rdogne_Damselhttps://www.meillandrichardier.com/arche-decor-romantique.html
I hadn't realised the fixings were separate. I was sticking it in the ground and I hadn't bought the long tubes to put in the ground so I used green metal fence posts instead.

My metal bench was much cheaper, Gifi in Trelissac a couple of years ago, special offer, 50€.

I have an aching knee and a sore elbow from today's gardening.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Rub some Deep Heat into those sore joints before bed @Busy-Lizzie

Did a bit of garden tidying this morning and took some pelargonium cuttings.  The grass will soon need mowing.
Apart from that I did some tidying in the studio, made sourdough to bake tomorrow, and cooked pork chops with roast potatoes, squash and braised fennel for supper.
And I started woolly hat number ten 🧶 😆

Night night all ... sleep tight ... St David’s Day tomorrow 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

  • Did 2 hours digging over my new veg patch,  never had one  before. Was hampered by buried chicken wire and an ancient fire incenerator,  all infused by nettles - isn't it great when you pull a huge root out, then you realise there's loads of tiny ones ready to set sail! Got my root plants potted up ready for my spring project.  Was planning for a stream, waterfall and wildlife pond but, after being sacked on Friday will just do  the planting. It's quite a big area , where my chickens/ducks used to be 12m x 10m. Soil should be good though with all that  poo🐣🐣

Just a quick hello to everyone. It’s uncomfortable spending time on my iPad because our visiting son accused me of behaving like a 20 year old girl (spending too much time on line). 😂😂

Hubby and son have gone for a drive to photograph the recovering gum trees, ferns, etc where the bushfires devastated the area a bit north of us last summer. He’s doing a graphic design course at TAFE and very keen of recording unusual things. We drove to Adaminaby yesterday in the hope of getting shots of the town which was buried under water when they were building the Snowy Scheme hydro dam years ago. Nothing was above water, so that disappointed him, but he got some other photos which were a bit different.

     Remains of some houses.

Anyway, I’ve taken the opportunity to spend some time on the Forum and playing some jigsaws. I note that Liri has put some lovely photos, so that was fun.
so, I’ve now caught up with all the news good and bad. So sorry to some of your experiences, but glad that Hosta is home at last.

    See you in March.
