Don't need them???? It's freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezing. We had a Max of 13C today
Our cat has put the willies up the 2 magpies who decided to build a nest in a tree in next doors garden by climbing up to the nest, luckily no residents yet so murder most foul did not occur and they have abandoned it finally after 3 days of a hell of a racket the magpies were making everytime she went in to our garden.
Not a fan of magpies bunch of thugs, but I don't like to see the cat kill birds so hopefully they will find a nesting spot elsewhere now and deny our murderous feline the instinct which she uses so effectively to the detriment of the bird population.

Broad beans! The first pods are looking good and I expect to harvest a few for Sunday dinner.
@Kili Neither of our cats manages to catch birds but our huntress scared off a stupid pair of wood pigeons who started building a nest in the wisteria she uses to climb up to the annex roof. She tries to get sparrows nesting in the roof of the hen shed but they're far too clever for that. She's a good mouser tho. The fat boy contents himself with herding hens and has no idea about how to catch a mouse.

Obelixx Maybe that's what I need to do is feed her up so shes so fat she cant catch them. She regularly catches young birds once they fledge. If they so much as dare touch down in our garden its a death sentence.
I always worry about the damn cat , a responsibility I never wanted since our last passed away 10 years ago (Its the wifes forced on me by our adult children who thought it would be a good idea to get her another) because we have a monstrous Marsh Harrier which regularly hovers overhead, but its never gone for her even though she's a tiny cat compared to the average. Maybe cats don't taste very nice from the Harriers perspective!

@Kili apparently well fed cats kill more because they have energy and don’t just stop when they have eaten their fill. Fiance wants cats for work to help reduce rodent population and was advised to keep them well fed and to get females, preferably black.
I don’t like the idea myself but at least it’s quicker than death by poison.
