We changed to a water meter when we moved here because the rateable value was higher than the old house. There's only two of us but we have a large garden and although we have nine water butts, in a drought situation we do use a hosepipe sometimes. Our Water Board said that we could try a water meter for a period of time but could then have it removed if we found the bills too high, which they haven't been. it works for us. I would suggest you check if it's the same with your supplier.
Our bill is obviously higher in the summer but still a lot less than we were paying before we got the meter. (Ours was compulsory. They just said they were doing it and they did it but for a while they said we could choose either method)
Our unmetered water bill is £12.50 a month. I’m happy with that. Also, should there be a hose ban, apparently my wife’s blue badge grants her exemption.
Ordered tomato seeds from a new, to me, supplier on Thursday pm. Arrived in this morning's post. Itching to sow now but need to wait a week or so for normal temperature and light conditions to resume.

It's gonna be higher temperatures all this week here in S.E Wales, so after breakfast it's up to the Greenhouse and our potting shed to pot on our Cell trays of Maltese Cross (22) Lychnis (white) approx 30+ oh and some Purple Tails ! Today is gonna be all all-day job in the garden I think, then we'll go for a walk up and over a Viaduct close by. Happy Gardening Everyone !
I went for a 30 mile drive today and it was all perfectly legal. My brother-in-law had a hospital appointment, not at the local hospital, and didn't have a clue how to get there. I graciously volunteered to take him. We arrived a little early and he was back out before his appointment time as they obviously don't want to keep people hanging around if they can avoid it. I think my car has gone into shock is it's not used to travelling more than a couple of miles at a time.
