Oh @Busy-Lizzie ((hugs)). Thank goodness your lovely OH is with you to make you cups of tea and mop your fevered brow!   Hope you get a good nights sleep. 😴

Did I ever tell you that when we moved into our last place we arrived with all our stuff in the removal van and could only access the guest room as the others had the floors stripped and sealed but the company hadn’t done it the week before as had been promised, and they were all still really sticky!  We had to contact OHs former landlady where he’d lived when we were at art school, and she had a room free so we stayed in his old student digs for nearly a week while the floors dried.  The estate agents paid our rent, storage for our furniture etc, gave our landlady flowers and chocolates and paid us a hefty whack as compensation.  Don’t think they made any money on that one 😂

Night night folks ... sleep tight 😴

It sounds awful BusyL. I’m very glad we don’t plan a move any time soon.
    Sleep well all.

  • Good luck today @Busy-Lizzie, I hope you find room for everything.

I took the decorations down yesterday and treated them all to new boxes, the others were getting very tatty, hopefully come next Christmas it will be easier getting things out as I colour coordinated everything and threw out some old tatty ones we hadn't actually even bothered put out this time, so easy to accumulate stuff you don't need/want.

Also cleaned out all the fridges at CdeG, 5 in all. As you can see I am trying to find things to keep myself occupied, not easy with the weather so bitterly cold, dieting so no baking required and obviously no work or socialising. :( I'll be polishing the cat if he's not careful.  ;)

I have enjoyed finding healthy recipes though, I made chicken and butter beans last night in a chilli sauce, no rice, just some salad with it. The beans certainly filled you up. Tonight I am doing a seafood Tagine. Home made soup for lunch with tiny cheese scones. Tomorrow Seabass.

Have a good day all.

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️

    Good luck @Busy-Lizzie  🫖

That menu sounds very good @D0rdogne_Damsel ... tonight’s supper for us will be a sort of cassoulet, made with the legs from our Christmas Day duck (I smothered them with duck fat and froze them) and some Cumberland sausages, with butter beans.

I’ll also construct a lasagne for tomorrow (using the second half of the ragu I made yesterday for spag bol), and make a sourdough loaf.

That’ll be me kept out of mischief them 😉

  • Someone has recommended I try making sourdough bread as it is less fattening @Dovefromabove, but I don't know where to start, I need a culture or something apparently?

I don’t think it’s less fattening @D0rdogne_Damsel  ... don’t see how it can be, but some folk find they don’t suffer the bloating that ‘industrial’ bread can cause.
You can make your own starter culture or buy one. When I get downstairs I’ll post you a link to the method and recipes I've found helpful. 😊

Right ... @D0rdogne_Damsel ... the book I find most useful is Artisan Sourdough made Simple by Emilia Raffa. Much online sourdough stuff seems to concentrate on the science whereas Raffa gives quite straightforward ‘recipes’ which as a ‘cook’ rather than a ‘chef’ I find more accessible. She also has a sourdough blog https://www.theclevercarrot.com/ so have a look at that and see if you like her style before getting the book.  👍 🍞  🥖 🥯
The book includes lots of different savoury and sweet breads as well as  bagels, buns etc. Hope that helps. 😊

  • Morning all -- late start today . Rain overnight here rather than snow. Well done Mr and Mrs @PurpleRose for the run yesterday -- I keep thinking i should do Couch to 5k ( used to be a 'runner' decades ago ) but so cold and so depressing to only be able to waddle when I used to be quite good!! But I won't get any better sat on my backside.
@D0rdogne_Damsel and @Dovefromabove your menus sound great.

Kindness is always the right choice.

Morning all.  Gloriously bright and sunny, but currently -4.5 which is apparently pretty cold for around here.  The birds certainly seem to think so.

Good luck @Busy-Lizzie - hope the vendors have cleared the upstairs for you by now.

Menus sound lovely.  Some sort of fish dish here I think:  I fancy a fish pie...
