MP's receive maternity leave as far as I am aware but obviously different for Govt. ministers. I don't know enough about it to make any real comment but I'd have thought technology has advanced far enough to allow a minister to work from home for a few weeks ( ? ) - just as the PM did when self isolating. What it really needs is for men to be "altered" sufficiently to bear children themselves. When that happens, along with us living on Mars, I expect the question of p/maternity leave will be at the top of the agenda
Lol.. if men could bear children we wouldn't need you girls, well except for the housework maybe runs for cover.....

Nobody forces you to wear pointy shoes and high heels @B3 but there's not a lot a woman can do about "plumbing" problems while the medical profession dismisses them as "women's stuff".

True. But do some employers still insist on women wearing high heels at work? I know there was a fuss about it recently .
Discrimination in dress code affects men and women. Often men are expected to wear suits when there is no good reason - for example when entirely office based and not in a customer facing role.
When I worked at DWP one guy was warned that he would be sent home if he dared to come in wearing shorts again. The argument being they were banned in the dress code (true), but women were allowed to wear leggings which were also banned in the dress code because 'everybody wears them'. Guess the gender of the person making that decision and their preferred attire.
Men in shorts in summer . Hairy, sweaty legs on a chair I might need to use. Female summer attire usually doesn't involve direct contact with shared furniture. On a a sexist note for which I apologise. Indoors, men look silly in shorts. Haarwevver. What's the point of ties? What's the point of a suit, socks and closed in shoes in the summer? Loose, light, casual clothing. Please not shorts! Also, something women and Arabs have learnt is that light, flowing garments are cooler than naked hairy flesh
